The things which I don't like about them are that they tend to make annoying comments on some of the artists and don't play all the songs but instead are chatting some stupid things

And just think - despite that screw-up, it's still not the biggest f***-up that BBC have done in the name of research for a music show. Remember the first of the "all new" Top Of The Pops? They had a competition to see Robbie Williams in Australia. All you had to do was phone in and say which of the three choices was Robbie Williams' first No1 - Millennium wasn't one of the choices. They then had to change the question so that they could give the prize away.

I remember that well, I was going to mention it, and had wondered how they were going to sort that one out.

The funniest thing about Kate Nash is that they have two peaks for her and they're both wrong

as for chartbreakers-that wouldn't be so bad but it is. It just sound like 'Fearne wants you to buy this and Reggie wants you to buy that'. They never pick songs that do well just the songs on the Radio 1 playlist. thats why I find it irritating. And surely its very difficult for this type of feature to go on as songs chart well in advance to release these days.

Also in the second show they skipped half the songs-didn't even announce where some acts ended up which was disgraceful-and spent half the show asking people's opinion on Britney. Not only is that boring, pointless and irrelevant but I'm sure Britney doesn't appreciate it!

I love listening to the chart every week as I have done since 1981.

I'm probably nit picking but Fearne and Reggie are doing my head in with silly chart inaccuracies.

Last week Fearne "informed" us of Rihanna's "11" weeks at No. 1 and that Kate Nash reached No."3" with Foundations.

A few weeks ago she also said that all of the Elvis Presley re-issues were on download only. (Almost all of his sales were physical)

Last night Reggie enlightened us of the "fact" that Kate Nash reached No.1 with Foundations.

I wonder why Radio 1 choose presenters who know (or care) little about the chart!

Rant over!!!

They're not the only ones - I have heard many presenter on radio and even Cat Deeley on the former CD:UK state that Handbags & Gladrags was originally by Rod Stewart. Indeed Rod recorded it as an album track in 1973. It wasn't the original though. The original was by Chris Farlowe in 1967 and reached #33. It was written by Mike D'abo lead singer of Manfred Mann from 1966 to 1969

I'm not very keen on them doing the top40. They talk far too much about a load of rubbish most of the time. The chart show isnt a chat show and they should just get on with playing the singles rather than talking as much.

Thanks to everyone for brilliant comments! :D

I'm sure JK and Joel checked out this site a few months back. Hopefully Reggie and Fearne do the same!!! :)

And I hate when they play No.39 for example, and the next track they play is 2 places higher, and you are left wondering wtf, what is between 39 and 36... so unprofessional

Yeah, sometimes there's no mention of them until the recap later on

I remember reggie saying after mika at 39 he said westlife were down 15 with home at 38 then played 37 by amy winehouse they do mention the song names maybe you haven't listened hard i do and i hear them mention whoever was the missing song in the playing track order

My fave Reggie moment was when he announced Sugarfall as Britney's next single when the album was released, because it wasn't actually on it.

Kid Justice 08- That was obviously a general example of the sort of thing they have done - not specifically this week! Of course if you listened as carefully as you suggest you would have spotted that they have failed to say what songs are in certain positions on a number of occasions...

I know the rival show seems to be unpopular with a number of people but since 1986 I have tended to listen to the 2 main chart shows each week. What I have found interesting is that in recent years some of the big changes in the Radio 1 format are things which the other side were doing - phone in competitions, not playing every song, having 2 presenters, obviously the BBC saw it was attracting listeners away from them and thought they'd win them back. Ironically Hit40UK has dropped its competitions (they used to have 3 phone-ins per week, now its just occasionally), they went back to 1 presenter and as of this week they have said they will be playine EVERY song. Also this week they have gone from counting down the Top 5 albums to counting down the Top 10 and there are no adverts during the Top 10. Lets hope Radio 1 take note....

And do something that we'd actually like? (I just wonder what it's gonna be like when the BBC allow phone-in competitions to return.)

Also - I used to listen to it every week (either live or on listen again) when it was Wes and JK & Joel. Thanks to F&R, I don't listen to it anymore, and Sunday was the first time I heard it since whenever. And that's only 'cos I had driven to Manchester Airport to pick Angie up after her holiday in Dublin. That's when I remembered why I don't listen to it anymore.

I got to the stage where it didn't matter if I missed it or not back when Wes did the show though I usually still did tune in. I gave up completely when JK & Joel took over only returning this time last year to see what effect the introduction of the new downloads rule had on the charts. I tend to flick around the various chart forums now and get the chart that way.
and what on earth was all this "Chartaroo", and "Textaroo" $h!te they kept mentioning once?.

The thing is, I thought Wes was a bit c**p as he was a terrible presenter, I hated JK and Joel and Fearne and Reggie are even worse (and I didn't think that was possible!). If the presenter(s) change again - who next?!

Of course, through all 3 of these changes, Scott Mills has been the perfect unpicked choice - and he proves it when he covers the chart.

Not sure Scott Mills will be that great for the job in all honesty, whenever i listen to him, he seems to talk about a lot of random stuff for ages. Of course he'd probably lower the chat if he was doing the chart, but he seems to like a good chat

I think Radio 1 are probably trying to appeal to the younger audience with the chart, youngsters who will like all the chat, wouldn't mind songs being missed out, and wouldn't even notice any wrong info given out.

I really don't see this! Granted he's a better DJ but whenever I've listened he makes the same stupid and quite frankly awful mistakes that JK & Joel and now Fearne & Reggie make. Until they hire a decent team to work 'behind the scenes' the chart will be awful and full of mistakes no matter who they pick to front it. Changing to a decent DJ will only reduce the problem by a fraction.

Even a fraction would be an improvement - so, maybe a better behind the scenes team plus Scott as presenter then?

Yeah, that was regarding Verka the Ukranian Eurovision guy. They were looking at this site and seen a thread saying that if it charts they better play it.

Did they REALLY need to mention it on air? .
