I've not even gave Viva La Vida a listen yet  but I'd already rather it get to number 1 than Ne-Yo, Closer didn't deserve to outpeak Sexy Love
I too am surprised that so many of you dislike Coldplay. VLV has a bit of crossover potential, and I would just love for them to get to #1 with it.

their 2 new singles are a step in the right direction...I've gone from being a Coldplay hater to being indifferent...perhaps I'll even like their next album material

Closer's far better than Sexy Love, and has much larger potential, what with it's dance influences...

by far Ne-Yo's best single to date

I agree, I have never liked a Ne Yo song before!

I actually adored Hate That I Love You...I know other people say it's one of Rihanna's weakest singles but I thought Ne-Yo and Rihanna's voices complemented each other well

it was the song that persuaded me to buy Good Girl Gone Bad :o

Yeh me too. Although i love pop but love coldplay too. And after chris martin bigged up GA and sang a chorus of call the shots at the concert - i love them even more now.

VLV is a no1 song, its so unique for todays market. I sooooooooooo hope it does it.

Dennis Wilson

wow - the deluxe Dennis Wilson/long lost album top ten..thats good going - but then again the reviews have been great and i guess there might be a kinda death cult built up around the mystic of the album in a way similar to Jeff Buckley

I'm also surprised about the polarisation regarding Coldplay. I know that they may not appeal to everyone, but I'm surprised at the strong opinions against them. My theory is much of it is based on age and maturity. I'm not trying to attack anyone, but my point of view may be correct as I'm older. I still love many kinds of music and like following the charts. When I was 18, I would have loved songs by September, Sara, and Jordin, but they hold no appeal to me now. Yet, I can see the brilliance of a perfect pop song like About You Now. When I was 18, I wouldn't have understood Coldplay. So I likely would have the similar opinions to those expressed here. But now that I'm older I appreciate them fully. It is complex music ... but there is nothing more stimulating this century than all the music on Parachutes and many songs on the other albums. As I've said before, I find it exciting to be living in the age of Coldplay. People will be analysing their music 300 years from now, just as people still analyse the great composers like Bach, Beethoven, and Elgar.

Off-topic, but...

'Singin' in the Rain' star Charisse dies at 86.

Horrible thing to say but I hope Mint Royale doesn't gain sales from this.

It's not that complex, they're basically a watered down version of bands like Radiohead.

Great to see Nickleback Top 40 again with Photograph and in tomorrows updates i will be expecting Busta Rhymes with Linkin Park at leats top 15 if not Top 10 -_-
VLV has gained a bit more on itunes on no2. If they stay at no1 all week, they should have done it.

I think they will stay at number one too as all i am hearing at the moment is Coldplay. The fact that they are now Number one in America will also gain them publicity too...
