Also Dolly Parton and Texas have never had #1 singles. Neither have Garbage - they've been going 13 years but have only released 4 albums so thats probabbly not so suprising - still shocking though!

Dolly's only ever had one top 10 single, Jolene.

Even with the current topic title, there must be shedloads of acts you could name.

Brandy, Sheryl Crow and Louise have yet to have a #1 single or album I believe.

I was convinced Brandy got to number 1 with Boy Is Mine, just checked and it only got to #2.

Roxette have had some sizeable hits without ever reaching No.1:

The Look No.7

It Must Have Been Love No.3

Dangerous/Listen To Your Heart No.6

Dressed For Success No.18

Joyride No.4

Fading Like A Flower No.12

How Do You Do! No.13

Almost Unreal No.7

Sleeping In My Car No.14

Wish I Could Fly No.11

10 Top 20 hits but never reached higher than No.3.

M People, and Sting as a soloist are two that I can think of

I see nobody has mentioned Feeder yet. 24 hit singles and 8 hit albums, with 2 of those reaching the runner-up spot. They still are one of the most consitently sucsessful chart acts this century tho.

Billy Fury hasn't been mentioned yet has he?.

  • 2 weeks later...
Infernal has had like 2 UK hits ...How are they even relevant ?

Shocking i know, she's come close sooooo many times <_<

'So close'? She's been inside the top 10 twice...peaking at 9 and 10.

BWO

They haven't even charted inside the top 40. -_-

Embrace (Remember them?) Lost Prophets and Outkast haven't had number 1's... not sure how many singles each of them have had though... also... have Feeder had a number 1?
Well, Dido had 17 weeks at the top of the albums chart, but never reached the top in the singles chart, except for her sample in Eminem´s stan... I guess 17 weeks at #1 in albums makes her relevant enough. But that´s only until late october, when her new single reaches the top spot. :)

It is harder to find Acts who had several Hit Singles & Albums, who

were unable to gain No.1's in either Chart.

Britney Spears is the inverse example... several hits, many # 1 singles... but never a #1 album.

Green Day,,Def Leppard Metallica and Faithless are others that didnt have number 1 singles

Bananarama never had a number 1 single or album im almost sure

Faithless was going to have a number one single with "One Step Too Far", featuring Dido, in 2002, acording to the midweeks, but it was deleted by the label during the week to give space to Westlife to have their 18348489398th number one single which came out at the same week, so it could only peak at #6 with the remaining copies in stores, and feel completely out of the Top 75 in just 2 weeks. Shocking. The label said it was to boost Faithless albums´ sales - which is bollocks, because the album version of that song was completely different from the radio edit/single version.

Just to think the band who has had more hits then any other during their 40 year career only had one #1.

Status Quo - They're only #1 was Down Down in 1975

Lulu has never had a #1 in her own right.

Only in collaboration with Take That on Relight My Fire

She's had 2 #2s - Boom-Bang-A Bang (from Eurovision in 1969) and a cover of David Bowie's The Man Who Sold The World in 1974
