In this case more for Cowell's pockets & ego.

Well his ego for sure! I'm sure his pockets are well and truly full - and perhaps even fit to burst when the X-Factor winner gives him his umpteenth number 1!

And Simon Cowell is connected with the Will Young, Gareth Gates,

Shayne Ward, & Leona Lewis Singles.

A Man who does not write Songs, play instruments, or even Produce

Records.

Yet - if the rumours a true - a Man who is to get the 'Outstanding Contribution

To British Music' Award at the 2009 BRITS. A Man who creates nothing - just

wealth from Sales.

now to be fair to Simon, he has had a top 40 "solo" hit! He was the man behind the Wonder Dog project in 1982 which reached #31 with "Ruff Mix". And yes, this (poor quality video) really IS Simon Cowell - dressed up as a dog from when he was promoting the single back in 1982!

lol, watch and enjoy his "Outstanding Contribution" to British Music!

LOL, saw that before. To be honest I think he just licenced it from Europe then did the stupid dog costume thing instead of some German guy.

Anyway, I don't mind the song, and I agree with the sentiment (although I don't support the war) but I think if Simon's screwing anyone here, it's proabbly himself. This is going to cannibalise sales and interest for the eventual X Factor winner's single. People will buy this, and it will be number one for one-two-three-twohundredandsixtysevenwhothehellcares weeks. Then the actual winner will be found, around the same time the song falls off number one. Then people are going to think - "What? There's another X-Factor single? I bought that two weeks ago. Sure, I liked him/her but I can just download this off a blog for free somewhere". In other words, even if this is number one until Christmas, but then the winners' single will limp in at number 7, plummet to 29 and will be forgotten about two weeks later...

That said, venga Ruth :)

I think I would like this if it wasn't a cover of my favourite 90's Mariah song. I'm just a bit bitter that they're covering it and it's going to beat the #7 peak of the far superior original. -_- It's not an awful cover but, even though it's for charity, I didn't want it outpeaking the original - the same happened to another favourite of mine, 'When You Believe' with Leon covering it. I just hate when songs I love are covered and they are more successful than the version I like.

'Hero' is my favourite Mariah song. (Personal reasons mainly) but I can see what you mean by this Poor compared to Original song though! It doesn't deserve to outpeak the Mariah original I suppose.

Oh and just out of interest, what IS "The song of the decade"?

I'm pretty sure it's Will Young's winning song still.

Ohhh :( I was hoping you'd say it was something different

It is and I can't see this outselling it.

Will Young - Evergreen/Anything Is Possible 1,789,000

Definitely not a shortage of CDs, was in town centre yesterday (Swindon) and couldn't move for them wherever I went. And stoopid people where still managing to miss them and ask assistants where they where despite the massive shippers and on counter promotion.

Is there a letter S missing before the word hit in the title of this thread?
