I meant in comparison to some of the others :kink: you're implying it's his worst entry by quite some stretch being 1.5 below everything else :heehee:
You've used the word rock more then you've used alternative - how come it's alternative pop, and not something like rocky alternative pop, or just pop rock? :P

I mean.. 3 alternative songs out of 11, doesn't make your sound all that alternative I'd say

Don't roll your eyes at me. :kink:

What i mean is...most of them 'rock' songs are virtually Alternative anyway haha. :P

  • 2 years later...

I just found this thread when I was doing my 'threads of interest' topic and I think it's really interesting :)

Seeing as were 2 years on, how would the veterans call their sound now? And recent debutees, how would you describe your sound?

I think I'm concrete pop, but quite varied, I've gone:

Trashy electro-pop (Alex Young) - Chinese electro-pop (Jolin Tsai) - Catchy europop (Helena Paparizou) - R&B/pop (Joe Jonas) - pop with attitude (Oh My!) - alternative electro-pop (That Girl With Dark Eyes) - K-Pop (HyunA) - retro-pop (Nabiha) - trashy elecrro-pop (The Charlies)

My potential next entry has been described as a 'wonky cowboy party jam'.

I don't think our country really has a 'sound' as such, as I like to vary my entries quite a bit, but I'd say most of our entries have some kind of dance element to them (excluding Flags and Geronimo). I don't think any of our entries are particularly subtle either
Batidas are mostly pop with indie and dance influences. My most "dance" entry ('Erase You') and my most "indie" entry ('Soldier') both DNQ.

I think Allecian is definitley mainly pop.

'Life Of The Party' - cheesy pop

'Disco Moment' - sad disco pop

'Daydreams' - electro pop ballad

'Flesh' - 'Adult' pop

'Ein' - celtic indie pop

'Fizzy Lettuce' - dark electro pop

So there's still a definite variance between types of pop being entered. I'm definitely determined to go down the country/singer songwriter route at one point in 2012 aswell.

Caerfyrddia's sound is quite diverse, ranging from Danish metal to Swiss yodelling, but the most popular genres entered are electropop, europop and folk.

I'd say my sound is dance - not varied at all tbh

1st entry "Falling" - trance

2nd entry "Disco Romancing" - euro/romanian dance

You need to come back to the contest! Next ones coming up soon in Greenfroze! :D

My country is Pop... And only Asian Pop which I'm trying to break by entering a non Asian Pop song soon.

But Asian Pop can be very varied... Which no-one apparently thinks of :\

That's true, but nevertheless it is a "style". Then again The_AIU is very different from IU :kink:

Anyway my sound is kind of scandi-pop in general, but I've experimented with electropop, indie pop, j-pop... I'm thinking my next entry will be back to the classic Numayania sound though :D

I've already looked for a good dance song for my "comeback" - after coming 2nd in rejects I might as well grab the opportunity to beat my peak of 25th place in the monthly contest B-) (yes, my first entry made it to the finals despite being 20x worse than Elena. I was shocked at the time )

Umm, I've tried Finnish rock, didn't really work out. Wouldn't be averse to trying more in the future though, I do love a bit of that sort of thing. And indie-ish scandipop is nice too. I'd like to think I could enter anything, but for the future, it'll probably be more and more things along the pop-rock spectrum.

I've gone with some tried-and-tested western trashpop recently. The entry I'm leaning towards for XLI probably won't change that (it sounds classic Séyetana (and yes I'm saying this already )), although I haven't decided yet.

Mine is very much in the vein of indie, like early ellie goulding- aka Kate McGill. My entry this month is much more pop but continuing with the sound. Reminds me of 'trouble' by nahiba
Thus far the Vojvodinian 'sound' would probably be best described as 'electro pop' I imagine. 2012 will hopefully bring a little more variation to proceedings.

Ashton is still very much the home of Trashy-electro-fempop with a good helping of Scandipop.

After all these years, I still reckon Ashton and FSR Rontvia have a very closely related sound with both of us sending songs along the same line. With their being obvious extremes. I've sent the most trashy track in 'Give Me Sexy' and Rich has sent the most indie sounding tracks. But we both occupy a similar space inbetween dabbling in Dance, Pop, Trashypop, Electropop, Scandipop and Singer/Songwriter.
