Assuming Run doesn’t wrestle its way back to number two before the end of the week, Hallelujah will become the first song ever to hold down the number one and two slots in the chart simultaneously.

What are they on about?

I have checked and these versions were at 2 and 3 one week and then the following week Righteous Brothers were at 1 and Cilla went down to 5, the last top 2 being the same was in 1957 with the song 'Singing The Blues'

Oh c**p  Well, I guess I'll have to go correct The Grauniad again then :P

Great to see Duffy back. Great performance on wednesday :D

She was good! A bit surprised to see her on so early in the show. Shame that someone had made off with the bottom half of her outfit though!

Shame that Beyoncé's album has slipped back down to 8 - I hope it can still reach a new peak :(

And i'm sad that James Morrison and Nelly Furtado are down to, though im still satisfied with 6th! :P

My Friday late roundup, just like to say thanks to everyone that has contributed this week, hope you have a nice weekend, Christmas is just round the corner, and 2 weeks today it be 2009, god, where did it go this year, its flown by. Don't forget to visit us on Sunday for the Sunday Chart Show thread around 3:30pm. Till done, au revoir.

anyone know any estimates for James Morrisons new albums total sales?

any help appreciated :)

Thanks for the thread Mart!n and others who helped. Not expecting one next week of course (the chart should be even more exciting then!) What a year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! I hope we'll all be back for this in 2009!
Alexandra will easily beat the first week sales of Leon Jackson last year but won't match Leona Lewis' "A Moment Like This" first week sales from 2006. I would say about 475k by Sunday.

Not to mention Shayne Ward´s 730,000 for the first week and 1.4 million total. Also downloads cost 1 pound as against physical singles which are 4 pounds, so which are more profitable? I wish they would return to totally new singles, not covers as That´s My Goal was an entirely new song and reached many people in different countries. Even in China at the Beijing olympics it was included in the album for the Games. In the USA singles are mostly downloads and overseas fans cannot purchase physicals or downloads and yet they still go platinum.

Shayne Ward didn't have a 1.4 million total did he :o I thought it was between 1.0 and 1.1 million

This was his sales at the end of May this year...so you were spot on

That's My Goal - Shayne Ward - 1081000
