Posted December 17, 200816 yr Why? You mean royally p*ssing off Simon Cowell isn't a good enough reason? :)
December 17, 200816 yr I couldn't agree more. It seems like an unwritten law that it HAS to be #1 every Christmas which pisses me off. How about this to stop it: If anyone buys it they have to pay more tax - it would defintely crush their sales :P More realistic ways would be: a) Delay the single until the first week of Jan B) Move the series from September to January c) People to get behind the opposition in their droves - say a media outlet like a radio or TV station.
December 17, 200816 yr ban Xfactor from the whole f***ing chart regardless wether its xmas or not! its just pollutes the chart
December 17, 200816 yr What about giving X Factor it's own chart, combining sales of featured songs and artists with TV Airplay? I don't think it's fair to exclude it totally, someone's clearly buying the stuff, and liking it.
December 17, 200816 yr Another idea is a rule that the show cannot be broadcasted for more than 2 years consecutively, it is time for a break from the X Factor and its chart monopoly, but that doesn't mean a total axe. It should come back in 2010.
December 17, 200816 yr Well you cant ban music because you dont like it. Unless we are living in a totalatarian regime suddenly. If people dont like it, they wont buy the records. Sony are laughing anyway, they own rights to all the versions of halleluya.
December 17, 200816 yr This is getting ridiculous now! there are far more serious problems going on in the world. Just get over it..its Christmas!

Sony are laughing anyway, they own rights to all the versions of halleluya. Quite. 1. If people buy it, it has every right to be in the chart. 2. There is no other huge way of promoting songs these days, so it is only natural that XF guests and performers will chart.
December 17, 200816 yr As much as i dislike this monopoly, banning X Factor songs would be ridiculous. Until about October i thought that the X Factor was beginning to slip a little. I think its going as strong as ever now.
December 17, 200816 yr Here's an idea - how about banning you from posting? What do you reckon? Does it seem fair - because I don't think your thread has much merit so why don't I just decide on behalf of everybody else? No, I thought not. The charts have been going about 50 years - i that time there have been plenty of good bad and indifferent songs, plenty of classics that didn't chart as highly as you might imagine, plenty of No.1s all but forgotten - plenty of chart wars/battles, plenty of fads, plenty indeed for everybody and plenty enough to go around. Just get over it.
December 17, 200816 yr I think that the X Factor has now proved itself in finding relevant, credible, talented (pop) artists. Any show that finds us Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke (and to a lesser extent Shayne Ward, Rhydian, Maria Lawson, JLS, Ruth Lorenzo) is a good thing in my opinion. Any show that finds us Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke (and to a lesser extent Shayne Ward, Rhydian, Maria Lawson, JLS, Ruth Lorenzo) is a good thing in my opinion. I don't think it's possible to say anything about them yet, they might have good voices but all they've done is covers so far. Someone could have the best voice in the world and release the worst song of the whole chart history. Which is one of the reasons I find competitions like this so over-rated. I've personally only liked one Leona Lewis song myself. I just find the X Factor under-rates song writing, instrument playing singers or bands out there due to the way it is. Even with this it under-rates already famous bands due to the types of artists that are chosen to sing on the show. I sort of agree that it should be banned, but sort of don't. People are buying this stuff. Perhaps it should be limited a little bit in the way it's promoted and stuff. I've heard, for example, that the physical X Factor releases are available in more places than other singles out at the same time nowadays, which is obviously because they know it'll sell but still doesn't sound completely fair. Though I know it's not only X Factor singles, there are a few others such as Take That.
December 17, 200816 yr No way should it be banned, it makes the chart alot more interesting and its increasing sales which is whats needed.

Any show that finds us Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke (and to a lesser extent Shayne Ward, Rhydian, Maria Lawson, JLS, Ruth Lorenzo) is a good thing in my opinion. But if they were so talented then surely they wouldn't need X Factor? I love how people always say how good some of the acts from X Factor are when they hadn't even released material yet! You have no idea what it'll be and you already know they most likely wouldn't contribute a thing to so I don't see where the 'talent' or the 'credibility' is.
December 17, 200816 yr The only thing I can think of it doing is switching to where Britains Got Talent is so then it doesn't clog up the biggest chart of the year, but it could still chart! I mean X Factor from May-July/August would be better for me personally. And then we can have the good old christmas charts at the end of the year! and maybe get more new bands to record ORIGINAL Christmas material!
December 17, 200816 yr B) Move the series from September to January Well, in Feb. Simon will be in American Idol unless Simon will leave X Factor. Edited December 17, 200816 yr by funmaker11
December 17, 200816 yr I actually don't mind XF "polluting" the charts at least it gets rid of the Dead wood every year! :D I think the X-Factor is amazing..It finds true British Talent, we would never have found Leona! Honestly, people get soo frustrated about it, is it really the end of the world if X-factor make it into the chart?, it doesn't affect anyone else's sales, each artist still gets the same amount of sales so what's the big deal, just because it's not higher up the chart, surely sales are more important!?! December 17, 200816 yr ban Xfactor from the whole f***ing chart regardless wether its xmas or not! its just pollutes the chart I Bet if Oasis performed on The XF and it got one of their songs to Number1, you wouldn't be moaning :D
December 17, 200816 yr there are far more serious problems going on in the world. Yup, there are - the biggest one being Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing. Apparently more important than the pound being almost equal in value to the Euro.
December 17, 200816 yr Author Well you cant ban music because you dont like it. Unless we are living in a totalatarian regime suddenly. If people dont like it, they wont buy the records. I'm amazed so many people replied to my jokey original post, TBH. I suspect some of it is a reaction against songs that don't chart on merit - that is one of my pet peeves, too. Obviously you can't ban a song from the charts (otherwise I'd see to it there was no rap in there). :naughty: :)
