December 18, 200816 yr If you don't like the Saturdays, then don't visit the artist forum. Simple as. The immaturity of some is a bit of a disappointment :( That removes any possibility of debate though?
December 18, 200816 yr The whole point of a forum and threads is to have DEBATE so as with any other AF there should be the right to post negative comment about an artist as well as positive comment, that is what DEBATE is, if ppl think an artist is c**p then that is the whole point of discussion and debate, AF's just being fanboy heaven for an artist where everyone is the equivalent of boyscouts gathered round a campfire mutually singing kum-ba-ya-my lord makes a forum utterly pointless If fanboys of artists are such delicate little flowers that they can't take criticism of an artist then they are the one with the issues, that isn't aimed at you or any individual or any artist I am talking in general well said craig :) thats it in a nutshell, debate, discussion, however frivolous or deep creates good forums ...
December 18, 200816 yr You WEREN'T Discussing The Saturdays or their songs though. You posted a really immature game, that wasn't relevant to the subject. [expects you to say something like well we were discussing Saturday which is a day of the week etc...] but the forum is about The Saturday's and their songs and news about them. If you were discussing their songs or something I wouldn't have minded as much. But if you're going in there to purposely start threads as immature as that, then surely you can see why the fans (Which the forum is for) would get pissed off and complain to the admins or whatever. FYI: At first I was actually laughing quite a bit at that thread, but it got old... FAST!

FAST! who are you talking to? because it wasnt me who started any thread in the saturdays forum! this thread is the only post ive made apart from 1 which was lol'ing at kates thread. again... some folk in here need to losen up, theres nowt wrong with levity!

It was humour mate, tongue in cheek and in my opinion well funny Kate is one of the great characters of the board, she is not the type of poster that should be stifled or criticised as she brings humour to the board Would you rather have someone like Kate's posts to read or the tiresome "in-jokes" in the Lounge that only a handful of members of the same clique understand ? its absolutely no contest, it is sad for the board that someone like Kate has to post on the likes of BBC instead of here as the likes of her and her humour are needed for the board
December 18, 200816 yr Tbh the forum looks like a spammer's heaven. It's just boot and immunes, chart threads and one sided discussions where every second post is 'I love this song'. But looks like a negative opinion is no longer allowed.. I went to the Leona forum to criticize her Celine-like cover of Snow Patrol then the Leona moderators chase me out the forum. Without criticism a forum will turn into the MCR forum (dead) or the Leona forum (i love this song i love this song)

Erm... DID I QUOTE YOU?? No? didn't think so -_- I meant in general. It was humour mate, tongue in cheek and in my opinion well funny Kate is one of the great characters of the board, she is not the type of poster that should be stifled or criticised as she brings humour to the board Would you rather have someone like Kate's posts to read or the tiresome "in-jokes" in the Lounge that only a handful of members of the same clique understand ? its absolutely no contest, it is sad for the board that someone like Kate has to post on the likes of BBC instead of here as the likes of her and her humour are needed for the board Yes I get it was humour, and like I said it WAS funny. I know Kate is a great poster to the board! I like her, I don't know her well, but I like what she's contributed, albeit I only know her through the Snow Patrol forum, but she's a great mod there and I enjoy reading her posts! On a side note: if you think it's full of too much 'I Love This Song' or 'Great choice' etc... etc... then go in and say 'Nah, don't like it, it's rubbish' or something (You guys are more intelligent, than me and can come up with something better) nobody's stopping you from doing that, if they argue with you don't blame me coz i'm all up for it, I'm interested in your guys opinions aswell as everyone else who likes it. Look, I don't mean to get on people's nerves and whatnot, But I really hope you see what I'm at least TRYING to say

Look, I don't mean to get on people's nerves and whatnot, But I really hope you see what I'm at least TRYING to say  Yeah I get what you are saying ^_^ I stay away from the AF's really as I think the hardcore fans of certain artists take their love of the artist so seriously and any remote criticism of that said artist is the equivalent of blashphemy to them and that is not my style, I appreciate the music of a number of artists but I know equally that they would not give me the time of day if I saw them in a hotel lobby or sat next to them on a plane so I just don't bother with this artist worship lark and don't get defensive about the artists I like. They are just musicians to me they are not gods or deity's but many people on BJ regard artists that way so I don't bother with AF's But I do think there needs to be some clarification on what AF's are meant to be from admin as an admin in this thread said that if people don't like an artist they should stay away from that forum
December 18, 200816 yr But I think he just meant, like stop posting stupid topics really  I think that's what he was trying to say
December 18, 200816 yr it does sort of take away the point of a forum, forums are for discussion and expressing your opinon, which seems to be frowned upon on this forum. i think if people are going to act mature (although i wasnt being so yesterday) then there is no problems to have an actual debate about the saturdays' music in their forum. just my opinon.
December 18, 200816 yr the album did perform 'poorly' that isnt my opinion, its a fact. In your original post you said the album was 'poor' which I took as that you thought it was not very good but if we are talking about sales performance then 71,000 copies have been sold - It has also been certified Gold due to shipping over 100,000 copies - Not a roaring success but certainly not a disaster. The album is being TV advertised in mid January so I am sure sales will climb :) For somebody that dislikes the band so much you seem to spend alot of your free time talking about them - There are plenty of acts that I dislike and I couldn't think of a bigger waste of time than continually slagging them off - Just my opinion of course ;) Edited December 18, 200816 yr by *ChasingLights*
December 18, 200816 yr Oh and I don't care about having a debate in the forum but at least if you dislike The Saturdays then post something constructive in there so a debate can be had rather than posting silly games and continually stating how $h!t you think they are :teresa: Edited December 18, 200816 yr by *ChasingLights*
December 18, 200816 yr There are indeed 2 sides to debate. The threads posted yesterday were a tad immature and silly, and yes there is a time and a place for such things - but that was not it! I have never been against constructive debate on the forum, and would encourage it - people have different opinions and that is what makes discussion great. yes, the site is pop orientated, but there is a place for Rock and Indie (and I am a fan myself). Rob, you have complained in the past about people posting trashy posts in Perspectives - now you are applauding them in an artist forum? The subject matter is different, but surely the principle is the same. Getting the balance right between over modding and letting all hell break loose is a fine line and there are alot of people who care about the site enough to have some balance, imo.
December 19, 200816 yr We have a SATURDAYS FORUM?!!!! I'm leaving. Erm you could always just ignore it?!
December 19, 200816 yr For somebody that dislikes the band so much you seem to spend alot of your free time talking about them - There are plenty of acts that I dislike and I couldn't think of a bigger waste of time than continually slagging them off - Just my opinion of course ;) its more the hype that irks me as opposed to the group themselves. 'up' was a pretty good pop song, better then i expected... and the girls do have some talent, singing live quite often. but im an anti bull$h!t campaigner, and when some act is vaunted as 'the next best thing' that automatically kicks in my anti bull$h!t detector! lol. plus the blind, misguided faith many fans have ... its like they BELIEVE the hype... but if you have read what ive put previously, i have clearly stated that id be happy to be proven wrong, and that im not bothered IF they prove to be a decent pop act! ..... i just want to see the evidence before i join in the hysteria and bull$h!t that the fans produce.
December 19, 200816 yr Rob, you have complained in the past about people posting trashy posts in Perspectives - now you are applauding them in an artist forum? The subject matter is different, but surely the principle is the same. scott and i deal with trash thats posted in a SERIOUS forum, theres no comparison between perspectives and the level its pitched at and a forum for 'kiddy pop'. besides id suggest that the majority of 'trashy posts' refering to the saturdays come from the fans! lol... id also suggest that the input made by myself, tip, scott, russt in particular have ADDED loads to the forum as a whole.

However JJ has got a point too. Even if i did LOL at the immature threads :heehee:

The hype is from the press/record company though, I am fully aware that The Saturdays are not a roaring global sucess but it can't be taken away from them that they have had an excellent start to their career so far (2 Top 10 singles, Top 15 Gold album) - I guess their long term success will be based on how well the final 2 singles from the album perform and if the album manages decent sales in the new year. With any act aimed at the 12 year old girls and gay market there is always a certain amount of hysteria and over hypying from fans  ;)
