The UK and transphobia
Trans toilet ban in Scottish government buildings announced today. Toilets must be (perceived) birth sex only. Same for schools. Disabled/accessible toilets will be usable by trans people. (which, of course, visibly outs them as trans) Seems absurd to be having this kind of thing decades after we used to take the piss in this country about Americans having a moral panic about it, no pun intended. You have to hand it to TERFs they really played the long game well at inching towards their true goals and making sure to insert themselves into/recruit people who were already in a position to lobby, throw money at this and insert themselves into governmental and legal positions where they would have not only the will but the means and the politics of faux respectability to push something like this through. They've made it very hard to combat, even making sure that their lead lobbyists established legal charities so that they can legitimately be described as 'campaigner' or 'charity director' rather than 'extremist activist', which is what they actually are.

The Online Safety Act
The internet becoming something everyone used is such a shame tbh. The whole mainstreaming of nerd culture is also sad. These things used to have barriers of entry for a reason, because normal people would use them wrong and here we are now, they ended up breaking them for everyone.

SPOILERS | Drag Race Philippines (inc. Slaysian Royale)
Suki will really need to pull something out of the bag to justifiably double shantay with Viñas - imagine if it's markedly worse than Khianna did the prior week!

Can Reform win the next election?
What annoys me is the sheer number of bad faith articles in the newspapers now that misrepresent what really happened in order to make people who are conservative (small c) and DEMONSTRABLY IN THE WRONG look like victims and/or people being persecuted. There was a story this week that uk reddit was all over about "man ARRESTED for just a little tweet". What the article failed to mention was that the man in question was a former UKIP councillor who had previously been arrested, charged and fined for targeted harrassment TO THE POINT OF MAKING UP A P.AED.O ACCUSATION against someone he disagreed with politically, and apparently since this occasion, hadn't then stopped posting inflammatory things, but had just toed the line more carefully of plausible deniability. Someone like that is CLEARLY up to no good and trying to get at people and yet the newspaper leaves ALL OF THAT out. And we get story after story like this. Just bringing it up re the union jack girl story.

Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale | Season 1
I think they might not have bet on Siam and Sum Ting kinda flopping. Yoko and Ivory were definitely cast as early outs but they always do cast a couple for these seasons. Yes Sum Ting was an early out on UK1 but she went HIGH-HIGH-BTM-OUT and the highs were for both a runway challenge and an acting challenge, so she had range, and they knew she could sing so her going home for girlgroups was probably a bit unexpected. Siam was more all over the place on her first season but was a good runway queen. I guess they also might not have expected the Ph girls to all come so hard with their a-game (to be fair, Bernie didn't!) This is essentially Khianna's second season back to back; Arizona was kind of a flukey top 2 in her season - which has played into her storyline here - and Brigiding wasn't great at the Drag Race format in her first season. Imo the only ones they were probably sure would do well again were Vinas and Bernie!

The Reform Gammons and Hot Air Ltd thread
Frankly I'm utterly disgusted. I don't understand (well, I do, propaganda, vested interest, low info commenters etc.) how it is that people can't see that Farage is CLEARLY a traitor who doesn't have the best interests of the country or its people at heart WHATSOEVER. For gods sake just picking 5 things off the top of my head: He's hardly ever in the country always swanning off to America and other places He hasn't done any work whatsoever for the constituency in the UK he is paid to represent in Parliament and serve on a local level He considers Putin a friend and supports him and spreads his policies wherever possible in this country (how is that even legal when we are arming Ukraine who are fighting a proxy war for us?) He pushed for Brexit and was instrumental in spreading lies about funding the NHS. Now he is an MP and doesn't push for that He was a banker and helped create the financial crisis! Then ran away and got off scot free and profited from it too (Bonus: despite already being a multimillionaire he insisted on being paid a colossal salary to do I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!)

Trump: Folie à Deux (US Politics Thread)
It's always the worst people that cling on isn't it? How is David Bowie ten years dead but this waste of air is still with us casting poison everywhere he goes? It would have been a better world if it was the other way round.

Zarah Sultana and Jeremy Corbyn launch new party
That's my politics, what can I say? Given I come from a conservative society out of my peers this is already very liberal. I respect and listen to most other views and consider changing my opinions in the light of new evidence.
