Just to be clear on this, we're talking follow ups that failed to reach at least the top 10. I thought it would be good to get a definitive list so post away people. I'll start with a few examples I know of:

- Lou Bega - 'I Got A Girl' (follow up to 'Mambo No.5 (A Little Bit Of...)', #55 in December 1999)
- Spiller - 'Cry Baby' (follow up to 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)', #40 in February 2002)
- Tomcraft - 'Brainwashed (Call You)' (follow up to 'Loneliness', #43 in October 2003)
- Blu Cantrell - 'Make Me Wanna Scream' (follow up to 'Breathe' with Sean Paul, #24 in December 2003)

One that immediately springs to mind is Omi in 2015, with Hula Hoop, his follow up to Cheerleader, only reaching #75.

Owl City - Vanilla Twilight after Fireflies (#95)

For what little it's worth, Vanilla Twilight was #94.

It deserved better.

A few recent ones:

Ava Max - So Am I (Sweet But Psycho) #16 - could change
Benny Blanco - I Found You (Eastside) #29
Clean Bandit - Baby (Solo) #15
Rudimental - Let Me Live (These Days) #41
Eminem - Nowhere Fast (River) DNC
Sam Smith - One Last Song (Too Good at Goodbyes) #27
Calvin Harris - Faking It (Feels) #97
DJ Khaled - Top Off (Wild Thoughts) #41

I really wouldn't call missing the Top 10 not 'successful' though - Top 40 perhaps

Luis Fonsi is another recent example, Despacito was massive but follow up Échame La Culpa - with Demi Lovato as well - only got to #46.

Especially with the recent ones it depends what counts as a 'promo single' etc.
