So the rumour mill for 2021 has started up again in full blaze with the annual "Fleur East is doing Eurovision!!1!11!!" rumour although this time with slightly more evidence to back it up:

Both James Newman and Fleur showing up as writers for two songs (the one pictured and another called "Here I Am") and with BMG credited as the label is at least an interesting development/something to look out for on Fleur's next album if nothing else!

Although it's not been announced I'd have presumed James would be involved in some way this year but maybe more as a writer than a performer which checks out with this rumour?

Anyway, hold on to your knickers girls for...the inevitable disappointment.

A potential collaboration between James and Fleur maybe?

That really would be a smart move from the BBC, after the immense amount of hype and goodwill shown to Fleur while last year's rumour mill was in full swing.

In my head I'm hearing something like Broken Strings, but it could be more of an uptempo as he also writes a lot of dance influenced tracks.

I think fleur would be a good choice although I keep waiting for Joe Mc Elderry to give Eurovision a go.

James Newman is a good singer but a not so good performer so we need someone who can put on a show

The evidence looks promising, Fleur did say she’d be up for the gig and I think this would be a great compromise between not ditching James entirely whilst getting a performer with more stage presence/charisma. Kudos to the BBC if this is true (until the songs disappoint us, that is)

Wouldn't it be great to at least know we had a good performer on board, the bar is SO low but we could do so much worse than Fleur. Fleur with a song like Asanda's Legends YES *.*

This is a nice reminder of how successful the UK have actually been over the years. It does seem to be that from 'Cry Baby' we've struggled to bounce back somewhat.

!

The Frock Destroyers are the obvious suggestions for these supposed rumours, but there was a podcast recently with one of the guys in charge of the UK at Eurovision - and he said he didn't want to send novelty acts until we had some successful years, so I'm not sure...

(I'd love for it to be them though laugh.gif)

I'm not convinced that spoiler page has any legitimacy to do it, other than probably trying to drum up hype for Frock Destroyers laugh.gif

I can’t see James not being involved some way or another whether singing or at least writing the entry so I think the Fleur rumour has a bit more weight to it than some new random Twitter account.

Interesting that the BBC Eurovision account woke up to promote Drag Race UK as well as 100 days to Eurovision. A clue for it being the Frock Destroyers? Or maybe I'm reading too much into it.

I don't really care about Drag Race but honestly all for Frock Destroyers being our Eurovision entry.

I know they have said time and again that they would never do it again but...

Bucks Fizz are now known as The Fizz and there are just THREE of the original line up - Cheryl, Mike and Jay.

Could be... Could be...

Surely after earning diddly-squat in 2020, they would do it for the money alone?
