Welcome to Mango's Quiz of Two Halves (which is what inevitably happens when I can't decide which of two formats to go with!)

 

FIRST HALF: SONGS PLAYED BACKWARDS

 

It's pretty straightforward. Here are clips from ten songs played backwards. I need the artist and the title for each one (you get one point for each). They're all reasonably well known songs and even if you don't recognise the song sometimes you can pick out the artist so it's worth having a guess.

 

For a bonus five points, what's the connection between the songs? Or to put it another way, all the songs have something in common. What is it?

 

For further bonus points:

What percentage of players will get all ten songs correct? (closest gets 3 points, second closest 2 points, next closest 1 point, nothing for anyone else)

How many of the ten songs will be correctly guessed by all players? (2 points for being spot on, nothing otherwise)

 

 

 

SECOND HALF: MISSING LETTERS

 

Here are the titles of 20 UK number one singles with some of the letters removed. All you have to do is give me the full name of each song. There are a handful of oldies in there but most of the songs are from the 90s onwards, including one from as recently as 2021. (In the unlikely event that the same clue fits more than one UK number one, both answers will be accepted).

(I've tried to add extra spaces between each of the words in the above songs to make them slightly more readable but it still formats the same way regardless of how many spaces I enter. If anyone knows of a way I can add more spaces could they let me know please?)

I thought I made it fairly obvious by introducing a little gap in between each song. Is there a way I can do that on Soundcloud?

You could just make a timed comment at the beginning of each track I think

I've added comments on the track now to indicate the start of each song, hope that helps!

Yeah, I think people seem to be finding part 2 easier than I thought they would. Personally I would have struggled with a lot of them I think!

Entered! :cheer: pleased with how I got on with the backwards songs, I guess I got enough practice from growing up in a generation fixated on "hidden illuminati meaning in backwards song!11" videos :rofl: think I managed to get the connection for that! Wasn't quite as strong with missing letters but gave it a good go, love the #1s theme :heart:

Part 2 was much more nightmarish for me

I'm doing okay with the second half, and reasonably okay with the first half... but some of those backwards songs are just going to stump me - even though I think I know what the connection is!!

I've had at least one person tell me that they got a couple more of the backwards songs once they'd worked out the connection :)

Sent my answers although I'm pulling my hair out over some of those backwards ones, they just sound so familiar!
