The song is quite simply pop perfection. It's explosive, bold and incredibly zany - just what Gaga represent(s/ed)! A soaring chorus, that really put the idea of Monsters onto the map - it became ok to be a freak, a weirdo, an outcast; it became ok to fail at love and be broken; it became ok to be dark and twisted.

Definitely up there with the classics now and I too am so glad to have been around for the birth of its legacy. There really hasn't been a pop song as BIG as this since.

Total

As IF it's 10 years. Where has that time gone?

It's something so special, magnificent and just MASSIVE as far as pop songs go. How do you top it?

A genuinely really special song for me.

It set my total obsession with her to a whole new level.

The demo of the track was already something I loved (BURN EXCLUSIVE BABY)

But the first time I heard the official song and then seen the video I was completely blown away.

I never tire of hearing it either and I’d also rate it in the same vein as Like A Prayer too as it just being one of those pop smashes what has absolutely everything!

The song itself though is so Gaga!!! Like without the name check in the song I totally couldn’t imagine anyone else pulling this off. It’s OTT in the best possible way. I can’t believe Gaga was younger than me now when this was released.

I think if I had to name my favourite Gaga song it would be this! It's timeless really and still sounds just as good as god knows how many times I've heard it. Full of hooks and personality, a key change, massive chorus. It's really been crafted to be a moment! The video as well also adds to how well the song has aged and there's many memorable scenes/looks in it for something that doesn't really have much of a storyline.

Still surprises me that it didn't debut top 10 let alone #1 and had to climb all the way up!

Such a brilliant, timeless pop anthem.

I remember everyone literally saying this was "a flop" coz it's first 3 weeks didn't really impact much at the time and people had expected so much more. But wasn't this one of the earliest "On Air On Sale" releases? So we weren't quite accustomed to seeing brand new, hyped tracks having to climb to their peaks. I wanna say it was a mid-week release too but I'm not sure.

What an anthem though. Pop perfection, indeed!

I think it was both midweek release and on air on sale too

The week it went to #1 in the UK was after her X Factor slot which was at a time when the guests on the results show would typically get a huge boost in the chart and would likely be that weeks #1.

I was obsessed with this when it came out and I'm still as equally into it now  one of my top 10 favourite songs of all-time.

It will always pain me that it stalled at #2 in the US </3 but at least the UK got it right!

It returned to the #1 again in the new year too didn't it? Two stints at #1 to make up for missing it in the US :D

It did

I think that was on the first chart of 2010 after the Xmas campaigns had died down and possibly helped by gift cards too?

At the time did Gaga break a record for having 3 #1s in a calendar year. I can’t think of another female artist who’s done that in the singles chart?

It still sucks since the Day 1

second worst single behind The Edge of Glory.
