December 24, 200916 yr Going back to the week ending business... Just to confuse matters further, ChartsPlus seem to think the Sunday chart forthcoming (the one which Joe will top the charts on) is the penultimate (second-to-last) week of 2009, not the last. i.e. they think the week after that also counts towards 2009. Next week's chart is, although date w/e 2 January 2010, based entirely on sales from 2009, and therefore the penultimate chart for 2009. Next week's sales period runs from 20 to 26 December 2009, so will not feature a look back at the statistics of 2009. That will be reserved for the final sales week of 2009, which is actually the chart date w/e 9 January 2010, based on sales 27 December to 2 January 2010. So now we have three different out looks. The Sunday chart forthcoming is either the second-to-last week of 2009, the last week of 2009 or the first of 2010, depending on the way you look at it. Ugh. ChartsPlus' way of looking at it means that 53 weeks contribute to the End of Year 2009. They had 28 Dec '08 to 3rd Jan '09 counting towards the 1st week of 2009, but are counting 27 Dec '09 to 2nd Jan '10 as the last week of 2009. Hmm!
December 24, 200916 yr Can't we just agree on the week beginning date strategy? It's the only one that makes a lick of sense.
December 24, 200916 yr This is confusing At least we can all say, whatever is true, Joe certainly has the last number one of the decade
December 24, 200916 yr with all this 2009/2010 Joe stuff reminds me of the "when does the 21st century begin" debate from 2000, and of course 2001 was the beginning cause there was no year "0 "
December 24, 200916 yr the 2000 thing will always run and run, as the zero-ists had problems in 1900 too ah the Teen-ties, what works for you Twenty Ten or twothousand and ten
December 24, 200916 yr Just to add randomly [/feelingleftout] - My source has 53 weeks listed for 2009 and this is currently week 52 so I think next weeks chart is being classified as the last of the year/decade. Couple of sales - not hanging around - Joe: 146.3k Rage: 47.7k Lady GaGa: 28.7k Cheryl: 21.5k Peter Kay: 19.3k Michael Bublé: 189.4k SuBo: 179.4k BEP: 113.2k Lady GaGa: 107.2k JLS: 81.3k Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you all have a nice few days :)
December 24, 200916 yr Thanks for those, really hope Cheryl can stay at #4 :o Tut at 53 weeks thing, seems a bit strange.
December 24, 200916 yr Peter's sales are based only on cd's. When the shops are closed there is no chance that he can overtake cheryl. I hope she will be # 2 next week.

December 24, 200916 yr based on the sales figures for joe above and taking into consideration it's drop on iTunes and how next week is generally the lowest selling singles week of the year, is it just me or are others of the opinion that even if there are 53 weeks counted in the year end chart 2009, poker face will still have probably sold more than the climb??

December 24, 200916 yr still... is joe really likely to increase that much?? based on the above data, the climb needs to sell 264,000 copies in 9 days... can you really see that happening??
December 24, 200916 yr I don't think he'll touch Poker Face, but he has a chance good chance of ending in the End of Year Top 5.
December 24, 200916 yr what is going on with this iTunes gift card?? If we have 53 weeks in this year, maybe Cheryl will overtake just dance. btw Ryan, You don't have information about Cheryl's album? Edited December 24, 200916 yr by Tommy
December 24, 200916 yr There aren't exactly 52 weeks in a year, it's 52 weeks plus a day or two. So every so often you have to have 53-week years or you'll get horribly out of sync.
