160. Duffy - Well, Well, Well

The lack of any sort of singles success for the Gorillaz this year really baffles me. Stylo and On Melancholy Hill are up their amongst their very best, but they just went almost completely ignored. Baffling.

On Melancholy Hill did at least do better than Superfast Jellyfish and was the highest peaking of the singles from Plastic Beach (making an astonishing #79!) but to be fair Stylo was ineligible to chart. It would have made top 40 in its first week on the chart and possibly got more exposure if it were allowed to chart, but it wasn't due to the retarded pre-order album song rules.

I actually really like 'Well Well Well'. I'd love to see it do well, even though the odds are stacked against it.

Me2! Its the first (well second) Duffy song I've liked and 1st I've bought . Hopefully she's getting some new appeal since a lot of her casual fans will have fallen off the soul bandwagon now its not "in" anymore.

Wow at Olly- he's not far off XFF and they both have performances. I'm sure they'll push ahead early on but may fall as the week goes on. He's not far off them already could he push ahead during the week and give them a run for their money? I suppose supermarket physicals may save them anyway

slowly but surely beginning to love the time (dirty bit) just downloaded their album!! hope it's all good!!
I used to love Mike Posner - Cooler than Me.. Now i actually can't stand it.

I think XFF will have even less success than 'You Are Not Alone' last year.

'Hero' had a few weeks at #1, sold alot and was actually a pretty decent cover.

'You Are Not Alone' had a week at #1, "good" sales and was dire, imo.

This year I wouldn't be suprised if the song misses the top spot.

I really couldn't physically get over Duffy flopping :(

I think you may be forced to :(, I really can only see it mabye scraping top 40 with the Strictly boost. Personally I love Duffy but this song is poor & she sounds awful on it.

Is there anywhere you can listen to the X Factor Finalists song in full without buying it?

But even if Stylo had been allowed to chart, top 40 for the comeback single of an act whose last era was MASSIVE - it would be classed as a flop.

I suppose so but I have a feeling if it did go top 40 it would start to get more exposure and would be a slow burner... might just be would-be wishful thinking though

Just realised how much Duffy's flopping :o

I've totally gone off the song now (even though its much better than anything off her last album imo) but it will need some serious promotion this week

Glad Duffy is flopping, I've always hated her, never understood her appeal.

We can only hope and prey that this years 'Ego-factor' finalists fall at the final hurdle!

The album still did very well. And although it was very good, Stylo is nowhere near as mainstream as Feel Good Inc./DARE

I agree with this, except I liked 'Mercy' but didn't like anything else by her. Same with ADELE and 'Chasing Pavements'.
