Matt and Rebecca were on top form tonight after being disappointing last week. These are genuinely the first X-Factor contestants ever in which I'd be interested in purchasing their album. Wagner stepped up tonight-and this has been my problem with him all along. I knew he could sing but Louis has tried to make him into a novelty act. Cher disappointed me and I didn't get all her praise. Girlfriend was awful. Katie was ok but nothing special. Mary seemed on the ball tonight and I did enjoy One Direction although the judge's said with the second song 'proved you can all sing'. I don't know if its just me but didn't only 3 of them so much as open their mouths during that performance?

I've only seen Cher's performances so far (naturally). 'Girlfriend' was great but wasn't "OMG amazing!!11!" worthy but to say that she was given an awful song choice she did it pretty well. Also the rapping was fantastic! I forgot there was a Lil Mama version of the song that she could do! The song itself is annoying though and won't bring in new fans for her :( - but like I said, considering it was an awful song choice she worked with it brilliantly. Also, you would have thought Cheryl would have more sense than to pick this after Diana's performance :( 08.5

'Walk This Way' - Completely predictable and safe choice. But OMG! She said the N word on a FAMILY SHOW! LMFAO!! Wish she did a slower rock song though, but I shouldn't complain as this was still really good! I really enjoyed it but I do agree with Dannii for the beginning part of the track, it was like Cher didn't know whether to sing the verses or rap them... 08.0

Having done my comments though I get the feeling she could be bottom 2 again (She won't be the first one elimated though) with Katie. I know I haven't seen any other performances yet, but I am getting that feeling as I've read on facebook that Katie was pretty $h!t... :(

Katie should be safe from being eliminated straight away with her amazing second performance, the top performance of the night for me. Mary will be eliminated straight away i think leaving Wagner and either Cher or Katie in the bottom 2.

Not watched any of it, bar Katie's sex on fire and Cher's Girlfriend on YouTube and I'll watch tomorrow when i a bit soberer.

But Katie's sex on fire is awful- i mean, can you actually hear her over the backking track?

I'm gonna go ahead and predict Katie straight out, then Mary vs. Cher and Mary will go.

Wagner could be in trouble next week but I reckon he's safe for the semi finals.

Rebecca's 'Can't Get No Satisfaction' was my fave performance of the night, nice to see her doing something a bit throwback and more upbeat. Bit of a boring show overall, Katie and Cher were just okay ... Mary and Wagner I just find boring and Matt and One Direction whilst being technically good just don't appeal to me :(.
Oh, and can we get a big ROFL to see Jark's hate campaign against Becca continue with his whole 1.5 ABOVE RANKING for Mary's Pretenders performance to her 'Satisfaction'. MOOPY GRIN HERE.
Rebecca was dull as usual. Did she move at all in either performance?

I think I'd prefer someone like Matt, One Direction or Cher to win, but thinking realistically.. Only Rebecca seems to have a chance of doing well on Simons label

Matt would simply become another flop, Cher would be turned into another Cheryl and One Direction could go either way

I really do think whoevers idea it was to put One Direction together, simply modelled them on The Wanted

I cannot believe that Wagner sang Radiohead last night (watching it back now!), sorry, but he is f***ing amazing <3 He HAS to win plzzzzz xx

EDIT: Jheez come on now Rebecca, that's not fair! (Her U2 performance), I didn't hear one single electric guitar.

I cannot believe that Wagner sang Radiohead last night (watching it back now!), sorry, but he is f***ing amazing <3 He HAS to win plzzzzz xx

Wagner gave a good performance of Creep. Cheryl, Danni and Simon praised him. He's doomed! Although I'd love the guy to go all the way ... I fear it is the bottom two tonight.

Katie with her turgid renditions of two turgid songs will be safe ... I think the public have given up trying to get rid of her. Simon has said she's so brilliant so many times ... that the voters have started to believe him. She's got one seriously weak voice.

Cher's an arrogant little madam ... but I actually liked her performances tonight. It proves though ... that contrary to people saying she's 'different' ... she'd give up this alleged 'difference' at the drop of a hat for fame.

Rebecca ... whilst still not as good as earlier on ... is leagues ahead of anyone else in the competition bar Matt.

Mary is, as someone has said on a previous post in a separate thread ... a bit of a 'Poundland Shirley Bassey'.

One Direction was put together so Simon could get three of his favourite lads into the competition in one go.

Shows just how much Simon Cowell knows about music. Rebecca sang The Chimes' 1990 version of 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' which was a UK #6 in May 1990. Simon says "i've never heard U2's song sang like that". Well, I have.

Okay, comments on the first half:

One Direction: Absolutely awful rendition of a classic track. It was too... 'pop-py', it's a massive stadium anthem song. It just lacked raw power. 4/10

Mary: Great vocal, poor song choice. Not much to her performance really. 5/10

Matt: I still don't understand why Dannii made him sing Joan Jett, but fair does. It worked well. 7/10

Cher: LOL. The rapping part was okay (I don't know if she wrote it herself, but many lines sounded familiar/taken from countless of rap songs). Very weak vocal. 5/10

Rebecca: I <3 that song! It was great production, but I missed hearing the electric guitars. It just shows that she has a very weak voice (like Cher). The guitars would eat her up. 2/10

Wagner: Wagner does Radiohead. I love him. & he actually sang it well! 10/10!!

Katie: Very false and theatrical. Poor vocal also. The only part I liked was the 'live' (and I say, 'live') band. kudos. 1/10

I think both evictions are going out on public's votes tonight, there seems a lot to cram in an hour show, group performance, 3 guest stars, it just looks there ain't time for a sing off at the end, mind you saying that they only sing about 2 mins in the sing off so anything can happen.

2nd Half:

Wagner: Eugh.I just hate Robert Palmer in general. It's one of those songs, that you are forced to listen to when you're dragged along by your parents to a new years eve bash, and all the men get up and dance/sing to it. BAD MEMORIES. & it wasn't that funny. :( 3/10

One Direction: Another personal favourite of mine. The performance was pretty dire though. Just showed that really, only one of them can actually sing. 2/10

Mary: She was trying to show attitude, but it didn't come across. She should have been given something by GnR or AC/DC. Still a nice performance though. 5/10

Rebecca: Major :| It's a classic rock track, and she turned it into Diana Ross & The Supremes does The Rolling Stones. Awful. Out of pitch the majority of the time, dated, crap. (& still she insists on standing doing nothing! She could have at least tried to attempt the Jagger walk  ) 0/10

Katie: Detest the song anyway. Again, an incredibly false and theatrical performance. 1/10

Matt: Outstanding! 11/10

Cher: Classic 80's anthem (I love the original & the Run-D.M.C. version). I'm glad Cher stayed didn't do a version too similar to the GA & Sugababes one, great performance! 7/10

I reckon bottom 3 will be Wagner, Mary & Katie.

- Although imo it should be Katie, Rebecca & Cher.

Ooh I've only just watched on playback. In truth, not a TERRIBLE show, but reading through some of these comments I think certain acts have REALLY been over-scored.

Up-tempo

Rebecca "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" - all the stage presence of a doormat, but vocally a delight to listen to. 8/10

Matt "I Love Rock n Roll" - he didn't do a bad job, but in truth what an AWFUL song choice. I'm not sure what Dannii was thinking. 7/10

Cher "Walk This Way" - not quite as good as everybody has been making out. Competent but definitely more Sugababes/GA than Aerosmith/RUN DMC. And I HATE her styling. 6/10

Katie "Sex On Fire" - HOT MESS. The most energetic performance of the night, and like Simon said you can only salute her for choosing this song of all weeks! Katie has just recorded the soundtrack to her gran's next porno. Nice to see they've overcome their issues and are now turning it into a family business. But that chorus was always going to be FAR too big for Katie, and Cherly should have known that (she only needed to have re-watched "Don't Speak"). It takes a certain type of singer to cope with Sex On Fire, and Katie just isn't in that category. 5/10

One Direction "Summer Of '69" - Simon: "We're making it modern and relevant, and this is the sort of song these boys would record". *Sends teenage boyband out to sing a song about a year that passed more than 2 decades before they were even born*

Beyond that, it was OK but nothing more. They simply hide behind a very loud production. 4/10

Cher "Girlfriend" - again, I'm just NOT GETTING IT. The rapping was perfectly acceptable, but she MURDERED that chorus. All over the place and out of time. f***ing dreadful. 4/10

Wagner "Addicted To Love" - they made a mistake there. Wagner's strength is his silliness, and there was too little of that this time around to carry him through safely. 4/10

Mary "Brass In Pocket" - OH DEAR. I was actually really looking forward to this, but I should have known it would just descend into a big shouty mess, as Mary continues to insist on being Shirley Bassey with EVERY SINGLE PERFORMANCE. 4/10

Down-tempo

Matt "Knights In White Satin" - started off on a dodgy note, as his voice came in a little TOO quietly, but OH MY GOD the final minute was utterly DIVINE. 9/10

Mary "All I Want Is You" - oddly enough I thought THIS was going to be the one Mary f***ed up. The U2 original was understated, and we all know Mary's anything BUT. Yet somehow the song suited being belted out as a proper power ballad. 8/10

Wagner "Creep" - OH MY. 8/10 maybe is overstating it a bit, because even at his best (as he was here), Wagner's the weakest singer of the bunch. But this had the shock OMG-HE'S-ALMOST-IN-TUNE factor which elevated it into something quite special. Much like when Cher did 'Stay' and blew everyone away. And it also gave rise to one of Dannii's FINEST bitch moments of the series so far. 8/10

Rebecca "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" - she SHOULD have utterly KILLED this one, but as with last week, nerves got the better of her and she was a little shaky. 7/10

Katie "Everybody Hurts" - shakier than even Rebecca, and at times her voice was out of control. But again, she was by far the most passionate of them all, which saved it. 7/10

One Direction "You Are So Beautiful" - it was good, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. In the vocal stakes, not even Liam is at a Matt or Rebecca level. And they lose marks for the fact that Zain remains $h!t and two of them did absolute f*** ALL. 6/10

PREDICTION: Katie OUT. Wagner/Mary sing-off

WANT: OneDirection OUT (never going to happen), Cher/Mary sing-off

First performances:

Wagner - His best vocally. I enjoyed it, it was great to see! LOL at Louis thinking it's "I'm a winner" when it's "I'm a weirdo". But maybe he WILL be the winner? :o

One Direction - Enjoyable performance. What can I say...

Mary - Great performance.

Cher - I didn't really like it. I don't like that song anyway. Don't agree with Simon about it being her best performance.

Rebecca - So much better than last week. Really enjoyed it. She seemed more confident as well. Strong performance.

Matt - Enjoyed it more than last week.

Katie - It was an interesting performance, even if not all that great vocally.

Second performances:

Wagner - I thought it was pretty ok again! :o Not as good as the first song though.

One Direction - That wasn't rock. But whatever. I thought Louis and Niall would sing solo since Zain did, but I don't think they did. I'm a little disappointed. Maybe next time?

Mary - Nice performance an' all...

Rebecca - It was very cool, but I would have liked to see her take the moving even further. Still, it was very enjoyable.

Katie - Hmm... It was a bit messy. Not my favourite performance of hers.

Matt - One of my favourite performances of his. Beautiful.

Cher - That was fun, I liked it so much more than 'Girlfriend'.

Wagner- 27,576

tbh, I'd be very surprised if the voting was anything other than that

Here are the usual 'leaks' from Abigail on DS, make of them what you will of course:

Matt is coming first by some distance.

Cher and One Direction are in the top 3 with Matt, One Direction are slightly ahead of Cher.

Wagner and Rebecca are 4th/5th, and are very close to each other in terms of votes.

The bottom 2 are Mary who is 6th and Katie who is 7th, there is also not much between them.

So the order is:

1st: Matt

2nd/3rd: One Direction

2nd/3rd: Cher

4th/5th: Wagner

4th/5th: Rebecca

6th: Mary

7th: Katie

The voting order was given to me on Sunday at 2pm, and could change due to the large surge of votes in the Sunday results show.
