X Factor winner heads for 2010 Christmas Number 1 spot

X Factor winner Matt Cardle is well on course for victory in the race to the Christmas Number One this Sunday.

Cardle's single When We Collide has now sold almost 170,000 copies in its first two days on sale, more than three times the sales of the second placed single, What's My Name by Rihanna Ft Drake.

In today’s Official Singles Update (reflecting sales at the halfway point in the week), Cardle's total is also almost five times the total of the biggest selling "Facebook campaign" single, Surfin' Bird by the Trashmen, which follows Rihanna in third place.

The other big name "campaign" single, Cage Against The Machine's 4'33 has sold 8,000 copies since Sunday morning, leaving it at 18 in today’s Official Singles Update.

Five times more than a facebook group with 630,000 likes. Surely some mistake?! People do get swept up with figures, a 'like' is not a sale.

Nobody's buying it anymore anyway, they're all relying on 'mflow' some voucher scheme that gives tracks for free? Good luck to them, they'll need it to compete with Rihanna's pop bars.

The thing is, when Matt's physicals are added tomorrow, they have no chance, there isn't a physical format for Surfin Bird so how can it go to #1 its so far lagging behind, how/where are they going to recouperate those sales from, if they can't face facts and figures than they are far deluded than a wooden thick plank. They can't see the end of their noses without picking it.

No sales info? :(

Pity, Matt is probably over 200k by now.

Yes we do its all on page 1

You know one thing you can say about RATM last year? I think quite a lot of supporters handled the victory with a modicum of dignity! But some of the gloating from Matt fans is shameful, going about calling everyone deluded and idiots and how Matt is the ultimate popstar...blah blah blah. Nobody cares. This year's chart battle was a pointless one, accept it and move on.

The gloating from RATM fans last year was over the top, making it out to be a fair result, when in reality they wouldn't have won without multibuying or using freebies such as the Nokia codes that they know they weren't entitled to. The same sabotaging of CD sales went on last year too, but that apparently was above board too. :teresa:

happily surprised to see take that the flood number 6 in todays update as i was sure it would drop in todays update. Come on Bon Jovi and sneak back into the top 10 albums.

I just posted on the Surfin Bird 600k member facebook page.

I posted that they have 0% chance to get to no.1 and that Matt's popbars are 4/5 times bigger than theirs.

They told me to f*** and called me a troll

Their tactics at trying to increase their sales are bordering reminiscent of The Saturdays now.

Except The Saturdays at least had a good song...

One guy told me to get over myself as I would have never of known the song if it wasn't for family guy!.. Even though I've owned the 'Surfin' Bird' album for god knows how long.. tit.

Wow, interesting seeing that spreadsheet. lol @ Biffy Clyro and Surfin' Bird having a sales increase of over 999%.

Rihanna and Take That both have massive percentage increases so far, but I guess that's the X Factor for you. :D
