December 14, 201015 yr I've had confirmation from HMV online that my Matt Cardle cd is on its way! Hope it gets here tomorrow morning!
December 14, 201015 yr I knew When We Collide would be a million seller the second he was announced as the winner. He'll be the most successful male artist from X Factor for sure.

And there has never been another X Factor winner who currently has an album at No 1 in the Amazon download chart with his band (Seven Summers).
December 14, 201015 yr I think that Matt is good too. But, for the 2nd Year in a row, we have an 'X Factor' Winner's Song, that was a Hit for someone else earlier in the SAME Year. Showing yet again that Simon Cowell has no imagination whatsoever. As for the hype, about how many Matt will sell this Week, & how big he will be etc. Let us remember - in 2002, Will Young came 1st in 'Pop Idol', & sold 1 Million copies in a Week, of 'Anything Is Possible/Evergreen'. He had quite a good Career, but his huge Sales days are quite a way in the past now. Gareth Gates was 2nd in the same, (2002), 'Pop Idol', & he sold 800,000 - in a Week - of his Cover of 'Unchained Melody'. He too had quite a good Career. He too has long been unable to have big Sales. Indeed, I'm not even sure if he still has a Record Contract. Leona Lewis has been the only truly Global Act from 'The X Factor', & even she is not certain of having huge Sales of her 3rd Album - seeing as her 2nd, ('Echo'), had no-where near as much success as her 1st Album, 'Spirit'. We see the same thing every Year - someone Wins 'The X Factor', & some people start going on, as if the Winner, is going to be as big as The Beatles, or something. (Far too many people get caught up in the hype. Cowell says that he reckons One Direction can be big in the USA, 'Like The Beatles'. The Man clearly knows nothing about Music One Direction can't even Sing, & they will mostly only be doing Covers, anyhow). Edited December 14, 201015 yr by zeus555
December 14, 201015 yr You realise that Simon Cowell knows what he's talking about. He knows full well that One Direction aren't going to be as big as The Beatles - but by saying it he gets all their fans hyped up, keeping their interest, knowing they'll buy whatever OD product comes along. If he turned around and said "well thats it for them" - he's not gonna make money from that is he. I don't think people realise how smart Simon Cowell is, and people fob him off if they don't agree with his tastes.

He's definitely smarter than a load of people on this forum, judging by the comments!
December 14, 201015 yr Zeus you are being really unrealistic if you think any artist let alone just X Factor winners can always sell the same amount, or always hit really high sales with anything they release, no artist is always going to match their debut/previous album or always going to get #1 every time they release a song. Leona won in 2006, its now 2010, 4 years on she's had a 3million+ selling album, 3 #1's, 2 #2's, a second album selling over 630,000 copies, and not to mention her incredible worldwide success that no other X Factor winner will ever achieve. Also JLS are doing really well, and Olly Murs who came 2nd as well as JLS, is looking at a 3rd week of sales of 100,000+ for his debut album and has had 2 top 5 singles. Second albums are never as big, look at Susan Boyle, her 2nd album hasnt done anywhere near as well as her debut, but its still done well, same with JLS. On a side note, Biffy Clyro up to #6 on iTunes :o, could be top 5 by end of the week officially. Edited December 14, 201015 yr by Let it Snow
December 14, 201015 yr Surprise surprise, negative Alexandra Burke posts and they come from Let It Snow! ;) :P Of course he is as predictable as bad weather in Dcemeber and just as bitter  .Great for Rihanna she really lifted her game on the X-factor.Pleased for Matt he really was the best of the bunch this year and hope he goes on to break the curse of the male winner.

There's a difference between him knowing what he's talking about andc knowing what he's doing. Of course he said it to maintain the hype but that doesn't alter the fact that they are unlikely to be even close to being as big as The Beatles even for a single week.
December 14, 201015 yr Well done Matt i hope it continues to sell big for him. Also delighted to see Take That still number 1 and im surprised m,ichael jackson isnt at least number 2, he could drop during the week as im sure the album is a little front loaded on pre orders. Also great to see the flood by take that back in the top 10 singles although i think it will probably end up number 11 and 12 on sunday as the x factor effect wears off. :cheer: Bon Jovi still holding up very well but im hoping they can sneak back into the top 10, they have eneded up higher in the offical chart than in midweeks for the last few weeks so i hope it happens again.
December 14, 201015 yr And he knows that. I think we all do - looking at the stats they'll probably do the same as that Quigg boy. Except they might do a little better because there is 5 of them. At the end of the day, we're not gonna be their target audience, Simon Cowell isn't saying it to please us. It's the little girls who have crushes on the 5 boys that he's telling this to. When Simon says "They'll be bigger than The Beatles" the subtext of it is "They won't but I can sure steel the money off little girls who will buy anything we put out" I agree he doesn't know how to put his words into actions though - look at the shoddy promotion Alex, Shayne, Joe had to deal with and last year Leona suffered because he had Susan Boyle to play with. Interestingly Simon Cowell is probably likely to make more money from Susan Boyle with her two albums then he has with Leona's 2 albums. It's like a new series of X Factor starts and he gets bored of the past winners and concentrates on the present crop, until next year when the series starts all over again Edited December 14, 201015 yr by Knightr634

I have a feeling no-one is that bothered with the Michael Jackson release. Especially as there is conflicting stories that it might not even be him singing

Leona indeed was the only GLOBAL superstar of the XF that's a fact. Her second album did little worldwide + on the back of the first one, still did much better than any album of any other XF star. The first one being certified all around the globe was just phenomenal. JLS are a UK and Ireland only act and so is Olly. Even in the UK they would never match her success though. People shouldn't expect XF winners to top American or Italian or German etc charts, they have their own winners they have voted for there (similar longevity with the UK ones) and there is no space for many more reallity TV stars, especially when they are from a foreign country, they don't know their story and haven't watched their 'way to the top'. Yes there is a capacity for those light-XF stars too! And I am saying light because if you skim their discography and charisma very few of them deserve to be global anyway. (I personally cannot name more than 3 from any show WW I am aware of)

Gosh you two make me laugh  I'm not being bitter, i'm simply stating that the drop of both is really bad and stood out to me in this weeks chart, i didnt choose those positions for her, i didnt decide 'i want both to flop' the public have just not bought in to her with this project, this time round..thats all! I dont actually mind Alexandra at all. ^_^ This is a discussion thread for the official chart, and like everyone else we discuss the chart, simple as, not sure why you analyse so closely every time i have something to say. Hope When We Colllide does sell 500,000 by end of week, that would be just huge!
