Sugababes cancelling the release of this single is quite possibly the biggest mistake they ever made! Beautiful vocals, clever lyrics, very good song! I honestly think this could have saved the Catfights & Spotlights era.

Also, since were on Sugababes ...

I have another one:

Runnin' by Nadine Coyle

I honestly think her career would've been OK (sans THAT stupid Tesco deal) had this amazing track been the lead! :(

Edited by Liаm

Seriously, 22 and Who'd Have Known over that?

22 was the best track on the album

I know this is from a lot further back than what everyone is talking about, but the most popular non-single track is widely believed to be Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl which regularly polls highly on Radiod 2 pollls and the like.
Oh. Wow. Was that really never made a single?! :o

List compiled from my ipod:

Pussycat Dolls - Painted Windows (I believe this was not released because Melody sang lead.....)

Ugh. That's a disgusting reason. -_- It is the best song from the 'Doll Domination' era! (imo) Should have been a single over HH;HH at the very LEAST!
Painted Windows  I agree that it was just because the spotlight wasn't on Nicole for one song *shock horror* :(
bit Anti-BJ here, but Stairway to Heaven was never released as a single by Led Zeppelin, I think that could have been quite a big hit to say the least :P

Sugababes' Ace Reject was rather great too and should have been a hit.

 The girls apparently didn't even want it on Taller In More Ways, it was the label/management that put it on. The only good decision Crown have ever been involved in.

My Love Is Pink is VILE.

Murder One however, is godly and should have been the lead from C&S

"Ladder In My Tights" by Amy Studt would have been a top 5 easily. I think "All I Wanna Do" killed her commercial career in the UK.

I agree with the Leona choices, especially "Outta My Head". I would also nominate "Lost Then Found".

La Roux - "Colourless Colour" or "Tigerly" as that would have been better than the failed re-release of "Quicksand". IIRC didn't it do worse 2nd time round?

"Lift Me Up" and "Vanity" from Christina's Bionic, especially as "Vanity" would have been a great second single after "Not Myself Tonight".

"Cruz", "Infuation" and "Impossible" would have been perfect from Stripped instead of "Voice Within"

"Hello" and "Whisper" by Evanescence

"Maya" from THREE instead of "Caught Up In The Middle".

"Karma" from Headlines instead of "Higher". OK, it would have been 2nd again but still....

"October Song" from Amy Winehouse's "Frank"

"Strange" by The Feeling from "Twelve Stops Then Home". I think this would have done better than "Rosé"

"I Did It For Everyone" from "Join With Us" and "Mr Grin" would have been a better first single from "Together We're Made" although there is still a chance this will be released.

"Glorious" from "The Illusion of Safety" by The Hoosiers

"Tell Him" from Shayne's Ward "Breathless"

"A Better Man" instead of "Stand By Me" from his debut. I reckon that would have got him another #1.

"Lover" or "Sparkle" from Sophie Ellis Bextor's "Read My Lips" instead of "Music Gets The Best Of Me"

"f*** You" instead of "22" from Lily's "It's Not Me It's You"

"The Walls Keep Saying Your Name" instead of "Won't Change You" from "Shoot from The Hip" by Sophie EB. That would have whipped Sticky Vicky's bony ass easily, especially with a big thumping dance remix.

"Kidz" by Plan B off his debut album would have done OK, but there was no chance for any of those songs to make the top 40. "Mama" and "No Good" were the safest bets.

"Love Is Pain", "Turn To Stone", "Rolling Back The Rivers Of Time" from GA's "Out of Control" instead of "The Promise". All three songs would have been huge. "Models" or "Swinging London Town" from Chemistry instead of "Biology". "Love/Hate" from "Sound Of The Underground". "Big Brother" from "What Will The Neighbour's Say" and "Girl Overboard" from "Tangled Up".

The Saturdays - Here Standing could have been one of those huge Christmas ballads. :(

And Ke$ha - Animal should have been second single instead of that 'Blah Blah Blah' "song". :(

Blur - Badhead, This Is A Low, Best Days, Death Of A Party

Radiohead - Everything In It's Right Place, How To Disappear Completely, Idioteque, Let Down, Exit Music (For A Film)

Madonna - Swim

The Smiths - Reel Around The Fountain, I Know It's Over, Cemetry Gates

Suede - Breakdown, By The Sea, She

Coldplay - What If

Pulp - Pencil Skirt

Kate Bush - Kite

Franz Ferdinand - Jacqueline

Lady Gaga - Speechless

Sugababes

Ace Reject

Ace Reject is one my fave Sugababes songs actually - a classic album track that was screaming to be a single.

Blur - Badhead, This Is A Low, Best Days, Death Of A Party

Radiohead - Everything In It's Right Place, How To Disappear Completely, Idioteque, Let Down, Exit Music (For A Film)

Suede - Breakdown, By The Sea, She

Coldplay - What If

Pulp - Pencil Skirt

Although Badhead is one the best Blur songs (imo) I don't think it would have taken off as a single, neither would This Is A Low - they are left as classic album tracks I reckon. Death of A Party and best Days are good shouts though!

Radiohead's Exit Music is not single material either, imo, I think Let Down would have done better (having said that, the singles released from OK Computer were the right ones I think)

Coldplay - What If - maybe as a 4th X&Y single, but White Shadows would have done as well (prob lower top 20!)

Pulp's Pencil Skirt I totally agree with - way better choice than Something Changed.

Got No Place To Go

Love that song. After the singles she did release got stale and overplayed, that song still remains the only one she has ever recorded that i still like. I agree that should of been a single.

"Cruz", "Infuation" and "Impossible" would have been perfect from Stripped instead of "Voice Within"

Infatuation

NO! :( 'The Voice Within' is my favourite Christina song. Really pleased that got a release. I liked the video too!

Also another that pops to mind is one of the most stupid choices "due to managerial issues" etc.. or whatever, it was left as an album track...

I don't get all this managerial issues or differences or whatever went on. Surely if they have recorded the track together and both companies have agreed to have in on the album etc... then they should be open for it to be released. Could have been another big hit for both these artists :(

To be completely honest, although I think Coming Home would have been a huge hit, it would probably have only been because both Pixie and Jason are pretty big in the UK and it'd sell on the basis of their names only. The song itself was a huge letdown for me. There was hype over it for months and it was teased by both Pixie and Jason on various occasions, and I remember someone described it as upbeat and electro yet when I first heard it, I was shocked at how 'average' it was. It's too soft, repetitive and a bit old fashioned for me. :(

I love Coming Home personally. I think it's incredibly catchy. If it did get released as a single, there probably would've been more upbeat and electro remixes for it anyway.
Pardon the pun but it was an absolute crime that Scene of the crime not only got released but never even made the Echo album.
