Is that really the case? Everyone here is addicted to the iTunes and midweek chart, and the thread even starts with which songs are likely to be a which positions anyway. Someone could post 'Really hope Collide is number 1 today' and someone would most likely reply 'are you mad? it's down to #9 on itunes and was only a few hundred copies ahead of #5 in the last set of midweeks'

It is in so much as not revealing what the official chart is before R1 do on Sunday. Things can be different from the midweeks and iTunes, plus I say 'should/could be' and have been proved wrong on many occasions.

It is a shame that The Saturdays seem like they will never get a no.1 hit but neither did Bananarama, one of the greatest British girl groups, they didn't even have a no.2 hit their highest were "Robert De Niro's Waiting" "Love In The First Degree" and "Help" all of which made no.3, "Venus" one of the most remembered songs of the 80s only peaked at no.8 but did make it to the top spot in the US. However band member Siobhan obviously scored a UK no.1 hit in 1992 with Shakespears Sister. So as long as The Saturdays keep on having Top 10 hits they are doing fine.

Which will be extremely unfortunate as 'Don't Go' and 'Stay Awake' are both far more deserving of being remembered (maybe not the other two). I hope Maroon 5 end up remembered for their most comparatively decent song (She Will Be Loved) as they were before a few weeks ago.

She Will Be Loved has been remembered the last seven years so I reckon it still will be in years to come. Hmmm, if you think that's a little bit ok, you might actually like some of their first album.

 

MLJ, however, is the biggest single they'll ever have and will definitely be remembered. Don't Go is so boring I don't know how you think people will remember that.

 

I guess my point is that it's artists' best songs, not necessarilly best-selling, that tend to get remembered. I would say Example will be remembered for Changed The Way You Kiss Me, whereas Maroon 5 probably will be remembered for She Will Be Loved. At the minute I don't think Wretch 32 will be remembered at all.

 

But MLJ will be remembered more than the last crop of no.1s for it's longevity and growing popularity but I don't think it'll be their most well-remembered hit.
