What do people make of Rihanna asking her 'navy' to select the third single from 'Talk That Talk'?

Seems popular choices were 'Cockiness (Love It)', 'Roc Me Out' and 'Drunk On Love' - all actual really good songs; although the former will be frowned upon by radio stations. Whichever track was chosen seemed to be the one Rihanna had in mind too - she expressed as such. Hopefully 'Talk That Talk' featuring Jay-Z and 'Where Have You Been' see release too - this album definitely has a lot more potential singles than 'Loud' did.

I agree that I think Rihanna's album has a lot of potential singles.

Except if she's going to release an album next November, she's not going to have time to release them all. I hope she waits until mid-2013 to release her next abum, so she can release more singles from this album, spread them out a bit, and then have a short break between the two albums. It was a bit ridiculous that Cheers and We Found Love were both top 5 on US iTunes at the same time. :drama: And I felt Cheers was such a good song, but it got completely overshadowed.

From Loud, it was the 4th single the fans on Twitter "chose" I think. California Kind Bed was a good idea (although I hate the song), since Rihanna was getting seen as a $l*t, etc. after S&M, so it provided a nice contrast to help restore her image a bit.

I really, really, really want it to be Talk That Talk though. I'm addicted to the song, and one of my favourite radio stations is playing it like every 2 hours aswell! I think it would be a massive hit.

I think I might kill someone if it's Talk That Talk :( HORRIBLY overrated. My personal favourites are Farewell, Where Have You Been and Cockiness (Love It) but only WHYB is single material from those, I think it would be another number 1.
'Where Have You Been' and 'Talk That Talk' are really the only sensible singles choices from the album, imo. 'Farewell' would be my personal choice though as it's one of my favourite RiRi tracks, already. It's very 'Fire Bomb'-esque (My all time favourite Ri track!)

Imo, Where Have You Been is the overrated one. I really don't think it'll do as well as people think. Maybe as big as Rude Boy and S&M at best.

She really should NOT release it as the 3rd single in my opinion. And I'm not just saying this because I don't like the song. I want her to release it, because it'll be a big hit, but firstly, they need to wait until We Found Love is completely finished and forgotten about (since let's not kid ourselves, they're rather similar...). It's a massive hit, so this could take a WHILE. Secondly, it has the potential to be a big summer anthem. I think promoting it in February/March would be a bit too early. You want it to be "new" to the public just as summer is starting imo, so she should release something inbetween.

I really like Farewell too. Heart FM would love it. Hopefully they'll do like with Count On Me and just playlist it whether it's a single or not.

Yes really, it was 2 weeks ago... and FY and VLV randomly in the top 300 all the time and jump sometimes,

Coldplay are the biggest group in the world in the past 6-7 years and that's Y, deal with that.

Look pal, I was a huge coldplay fan when you were in nappies. Don't think that you are the only coldplay fan here but I, along with CW have a balanced view about things, so stop being rude and open your mind to other points of view. The reason the other songs have climbed is the knock on effect of paradise - it happens with alot of artists.

#07 Cannonball

Still holding up extremely well :o

#103 Chasing Cars ,

Coldbray will be have a huge smile on his face

Hoping Rihanna's 'You da One' can officially go top 10 in the New Year - with Gotye, Taio Cruz and potentially Swedish House Mafia / Michael Kiwanuka the only likely top 10s, radio/video airplay just needs to keep improving until Little Mix, Military Wives and the 're-entries' that have benefited from the gift cards fall out.

Back on the topic of the album's singles - I'd love for 'Where Have You Been' to see a release for Summer 2012, it's so anthemic - but so is 'We Found Love'. I have a strong feeling that 'Roc Me Out' will be the third single - although hopefully we won't hear about third single confirmation until February, let 'You da One' enjoy single status for the time being.

I don't think it's much to worry about if she confirms the 3rd single early. S&M was confirmed as the 3rd single before the album was even released, for example. As long as she waits a while before actually promoting it, etc, I think it would be fine.

"Domino" is doing so well with no video airplay!

I've also said similar in the Rihanna forum but I do think Where Have You Been and Talk That Talk will be smashes on iTunes and the official chart. IMO Where Have You Been sounds a bit like We Found Love, but not loads, though we should wait for WFL to fall down the charts a lot first though. I feel that releasing You Da One as the second single is a bit of a mistake as it's kind of being forced out of iTunes top 10 now and it is "released" next week. If the next single doesn't pick it up after You Da One, then this album is going to find it difficult to recover I think. She is by no means a flop but its singles will underperform by her standards.

Drunk on Love and Roc Me Out are good enough but a bit risky. Talk That Talk should have definitely been the second single IMO. I would like too see this album be re-released however!

I'm wondering which of Good Feeling, Paradise or Mama Do The Hump will be #1 next week. I hope for the latter!

I hope for the latter too. Not only because it'll be nice for Rizzle Kicks to have a discography that goes 08-01-08-01 but also because Coldplay would have already been number one by this time next week and I absolutely detest that overrated piece of Flo Rida shit. No offence but that is an absolute bad apple. :puke:

I actually think November 2012 could see the release of the extremely overdue Greatest Hits album from Rihanna. She has 6 albums worth of material - surely she needs a Collective album. Although I guess Good Girl Gone Bad and Loud are kind of Greatest Hits albums.

^^ Smashing.

TBH Rihanna has got to the point where having the smash 1st single and big sales before xmas were almost garenteed. You da 1 was fine as the 2nd single as xmas and WFL were going to sell the album anyway. The 3rd single needs to be a killer though and i would go for TTT or WHYB personally, they are instant.

I personally prefer TTT to Loud and see more hits in it.

182. Talk That Talk

184. Where Have You Been

Which song has sold the most? Which song is getting the most airplay? Which song has the most views on Youtube? Which song was the album NAMED after?

:coffee:

This will probably just end up in an arguement but...

What about the Black Eyed Peas?

Coldplay sell many more albums and tour tickets though, and their songs are on the radio more too (but I'd argue that could just because their songs are more radio friendly, than because they're "bigger").

Meh, I wouldn't agree with BEP but I've heard a lot of bands being given that title recently. U2, Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire to name a few.

^^ Smashing.

It's not out for another one month and a bit, there's been limited airplay and no video, at least it's in the top 1000 on iTunes.
