It also looks like half a million could be the cut-off point for the year end top 20, as 1D at #20 will have made the 500k this week. Neat.

Half a million will likely be the cutoff for the top 22 - Alexandra Stan will also pass 500k this week and Coldplay are also likely to pass it but of course a good chunk of their sales are 'ineligible'.

04- JESSIE J FEATURING B.O.B- PRICE TAG (967,300)

WKS ON CHART: 39

Spending most of the year chasing Adele this ends being overtaken in the dying weeks of the year by two tracks. Some suggested that the video had illuminate references in it (see wiki) but I doubt that very much myself!

05- PITBULL FEATURING NE-YO & AFROJACK – GIVE ME EVERYTHING (858,700)

What has poor old Nayer done to offend you? :)

Even funnier, Metro Lyrics says its 'Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare'. That doesn't even make sense, its clearly 'Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your shit bare'

That was what I used to think she said. :o :P

But I'm the same person who confused Christina Aguilera's 'The Voice Within' lyric "when you're safe inside your room, you tend to dream" with "when you're safe inside your room, you're a tangerine". :P I was quite young though at the time.

I hate 'Price Tag'. It is too cheesy and pretentious imo.

You can tell this was produced by Dr. Luke. You can hear some of the same sounds in it that are in The One That Got Away. I always forget B.o.B is on this song lol. I can't wait for his album next year.

I was hoping they'd play that remix again!

One of only three songs to spend four or more weeks at the top this year and should pass the million mark sometime in 2012. It samples Rick Ross's "Hustlin" and a video that nods to both "Thriller" and also the film "28 days".

I decided their contribution wasn't sufficient enough :D

I thought that, but they don't censor it on the radio, which is strange. But it could be, since they don't censor "shittin' down the game" in Sweat by Snoop Dogg either. Perhaps radio is getting more liberal now, or it's the fact that it's difficult to tell what they're saying so they don't feel the need to censor it.

This is what happens when lyrics aren't in the CD Booklet. This was from her website

I definitely prefer SAIKI over this. If not for the hilarious irony, then for the fact that it DOESN'T rape my ears like this song does.

Some radio stations play a non-Nayer edit (although I don't really see the point). That's not as extreme as Heart FM's edit cutting out all of Pitbull's parts though. :drama:

Party Rock Anthem is like a mixture of Tainted Love by Soft Cell, Call on Me by Eric Prydz and We No Speak Americano by Yolanda Be Cool.

The unluckiest song of the year? Well it spent 7 weeks at No 2 in the Autumn of this year behind six different songs- a record. It should easily cross the million mark tomorrow and sneak over that particular mark just in time to see 2011 out, it is quite comfortably the biggest selling single ever by either act.

:o :o :o So Adele is #1?!?!?

Radio 1 in acknowledging MLJ's success shocker? That's way more commentary than Reggie has ever given in 5 months.

Yes of course you knew it was top selling song of the year, I refuse to believe anyone didn’t in fact! Topping the million mark with months to spare this became the first track to sell a million in a calendar year since Tony Christie back in 2005.
