Domino was clearly intended to break her properly into the US since her more "serious" material wasn't picking up.

Mine was Lionel Richie - Hello. OH GOD I'M OLD.

Figures  It does sound a bit like it samples Footloose though (the music, not the vocals).

Mine was Phil Collins - even older lol!!

Great #1, so far its my favourite #1 of the year.
If only she'd released Abracadabra instead of Who's Laughing Now, which would have surely gone top 10, her chart history would look so much more impressive...

Totally Agree!

No, it's because Bruno's album is available for a much lower price than Adele's :P

Thats true 21 hasnt been below 8/9 quid!!

I like all 2012 UK number ones so far :o but Domino is definitely my fave as well.

My second fave JJ single to date. Still prefer Price Tag.

That makes sense now, that it's a Fatboy Slim production, but I didn't know before. It's the Brighton connection! Has he produced any other tracks on the Rizzle Kicks album? I'm close to buying it and that might push me into it...

Fatboy Slim doesn't produce any other songs on the album as far as I know. Most of it is produced by a guy called Ant Whiting.

Well, we didn't miss much THIS week not having Thursday mids. The top 7 are exactly the same as they were in the Wednesday update.

There were some big changes between Wed and today with climbers (Pixie, Kelly, Guetta), which isn't surprising, but can anyone explain the sudden drop for Sean Kingston? It looks really out of place. The track was poised to climb +3, but ended up falling 11; a 14 place difference Wed-Sun.

Great to have "Pumped Up Kicks" at No.22 and "Torches" reach a new peak of No.13

(21) Kelly Clarkson-Stronger

Dull tune from Kelly, But her ad for Toyota which uses this song is a lot better

Started the week at 59p on iTunes and was put back up to 99p partway through. This is also the reason for the big drops for One Direction and Olly Murs/Rizzle Kicks.

actually 'Who's laughing now' is her own personal favorite so she would've released it anyway, besides it's really catchy....

Ah, that make sense, thank you. Yes, Olly was 8 lower and 1D were 4 lower, but those kind of Wed-Sun differences aren't so rare. 14 places is quite unusual. Of these three, I'm guessing Sean Kingston is getting much less airplay, so that's probably the other contributing factor?

The OCC gave Jessie J her award at the BRIT award announcements according to their site. That isn't right

It says above that they let her try it on for size, but was she blindfolded? In her interview with Reggie just now, she had to have the award described to her, as she apparently didn't know what it looked like. Short term memory loss? Something doesn't add up.

I think its called lying. :o

Yes, there's always that possibility as well. :-)

Is there supposed to be a CD of Domino coming? Nine weeks is a ridiculously long time before official 'release', but it just shows what a meaningless concept a 'release date' is these days for tracks which are already on albums.

Yeah, it's like Airplanes, which also climbed to #1 like 2 weeks before its release date.

Release dates can still be useful, as a vague idea of when the song might peak, and also the songs that have single versions that are different to the album versions often see a big boost on release week. Also sometimes the remix EP can sell a lot too. But the actual CDs don't really contribute much anymore.
