Is it just me or have they always shown around 5 full auditions in one show with other auditions being shown in a montage with a backing track? It doesn't feel any different this year.

To me the full auditions seem longer and we're not getting as many random montages with a fitting backing track like Firework. Not that it matters as such, you just know when you see someone on a montage they're bootcamp fodder (except of course Perrie from Little Mix, and all the others weren't even shown, but then she technically was bootcamp fodder as herself it's just Little Mix weren't :P).

Well, if they only focus on a handful of auditionees then we pretty much know who has made the live finals. It doesn't if someone who never got much airtime in their audition blows everyone out of the water at bootcamp, they won't have had enough airplay to "connect with the public" and so another excellent singer will be sent home whilst some lame excuse for entertainment sails through to the finals.

I'd be less miffed if X Factor could become more like 2008 where there were genuinely some decent singers who made the live finals. Sadly it's more for entertainment now rather than finding a world class superstar - hence the lower viewing figures and the lack of success for the eventual winner.

I haven't seen one band even audition yet. Unless I dreamt it.

And I bet they get a few bad solo or middle of the road singers and clamp them together to form a girl band and a boy band, like they did last year.

I can only remember one or two crap bands that were a joke, I know

Matthew Knowles' (Beyonce's dad) girlgroup From Above made it to bootcamp

though.

I was thinking that too! What an awful category so far.

It's about time we had a successful mixed gendered group! :(
They should form a mixed gender group out of rejects for a change, still a cliche as they'd be forming bands but a slightly more refreshing take on said cliche

The conversations between contestants are just AWFUL though.

Not when it was just the judges & auditionees same as American Idol. The show was almost all auditions then.

WOW! Very impressed with Melanie McCabe, remember thinking she didn't stand out much last year, but she certainly did there!
I didn't recognise Melanie at first, she definitely belted that one, spot on.
Christopher was nervous as hell, I didn't think he would pull it off in the end, but he did.
I do love an excitable Asian, they're always good fun (I hope this doesn't come across racist, I have a habit of doing that).. forever laughing at TULISHA.
Christopher has a good voice and you obviously can't deny that, but oh my god he had EVERYTHING that sums out how cliched, staged and predictable The X Factor has become - Westlife song to audition, 'I LUV MI FAMILY!!!111!11!!' heartbreaking VT, 10 minutes at the end of the show and (the icing on the cake) bringing out the nan in tears to meet the judges.

Yep, it is so predictable it is equally funny and tragic.

Christopher was very good. He didn't need to bang on about his gran for 10 minutes. Almost exactly like the guy with the kid last week. The only thing holding me back from auditioning really is the fact I don't have any particularly special relatives to wheel out when I get there.
