Oh dear, the new releases are a bit limp again, apart from Adam, what an absolute tune

Inna to surprise us all and get a shock #1 with first week sales of 120k please ;)

Now back in the real world, it looks like another slow week :drama: - as long as Chris Brown doesn't climb to #1 I'll be happy.

doesn't look like anything is going to enter straight into number 1 this week, or in fact next week. the week after has a possibility of conor maynard, but until then it looks like another pretty boring week. :drama: at least chris brown looks to be this week's number 1.

I think Florence + The Machine and The Vaccines will be the only ones to go Top 40. Both have Radio 1 support and the Calvin Harris remix (the one which had been getting Radio 1 play) will hopefully overtake the album version on iTunes. I can't see No Hope missing the Top 40 as it's fairly catchy and If You Wanna being on ads etc seems to have ignited more interest in The Vaccines!

I think:

Will.I.Am or Maroon 5 for #1.

Florence ~#24.

The Vaccines ~#29.

Ridiculous that songs that've been around for MONTHS like Drive By and Starships will probably still be top 20 next week, yet The Vaccines' great new song will be lucky to even scrape a top 40 place. <_<

Anyway, predictions...

Bombay Bicycle Club - Beg

No.1 - Obviously

Adam Lambert - Never Close Our Eyes

No.12 - Capital playlisting = Instant fluke hit (most of the time). And there's been a fake version floating around

Florence + the Machine - Spectrum

No.26 - Would be quite nice if this did well, kinda surprised she's looking to get another Top 40 hit from the album!

Jennifer Lopez (ft. Flo Rida) - Goin' In

No.40 - Apparently this has just been released out of seemingly nowhere. Oh well.

The Vaccines - No Hope

No.45 - Really deserves better :(

Lana Del Rey - National Anthem

No.70 - Not done a whole lot so far, didn't really expect it to

Goin' In is SO much better than Dance Again! So I hope it does better in the charts, but usually it happens the opposite way around.

I really hope Florence doesn't get as high as people are wanting her too. Seriously despise her stuff. It's so annoying seeing her get praise for shrieking. (I know I always say it ) I listened to the clip on iTunes of the Calvin Harris remix of 'Spectrum' thinking (and hoping) Calvin could work his magic, but I had to stop it. It was terrible :(

So no one to support, so I will throw all my weight and hope for LorQueen to re-enter the top 40 :kink:

101. Never Close Our Eyes - Adam Lambert

316. Spectrum (Say My Name) [Calvin Harris Remix] - Florence + the Machine

Pretty much as expected so far

Hmm, just checked iTunes. There's a bunch of fakes of 'Goin' In' available, but not the real thing..

The original is listed on the front page where the 'new singles' section is. But it seems if you try clicking on the link to the single, iTunes just says "this item isn't available" o_O Kinda bizarre...

EPs on Albums Chart

1. Spectrum (Say My Name) [Remixes] - EP - Florence + The Machine

16. No Hope - EP - Vaccines

129. Love Like Stars - EP - Ben Montague

275. National Anthem (Remixes) - EP - Lana Del Rey

706. Endless - Inna

Very good debut for the Calvin remix of 'Spectrum', I could see it possibly going top 20 now! :o Brilliant to see the EP in at #1 too, I'm a bit surprised it sold enough pre-orders but I guess with shitty album sales at the moment it's not that great an achievement.

Strong debut for 'Never Close Our Eyes', should definitely be on to outpeak 'For Your Entertainment' :D

'No Hope' EP doing poorly. Not surprised really. Very disappointing comeback.

What a dull week- the summer slump has kicked in I see. Record companies need to realise this is the prime opportunity to get some good exposure and decent sales for acts which might have suffered in a previous Q4 through too much competition.
Adam up to #96. Florence already up 47 places to #269, can't believe how good a start this is off to :o

Adam  #88

Florence  #203

No sign of The Vaccines yet.

Hang on - I thought Pink-Blow Me (One Last Kiss) was supposed to be out this week?

^ Somebody That I Used to Know is going to outsell Someone Like You at this rate!!

At current sales rates, that would take 15 weeks, but since STIUTK's sales are declining faster than SLY's, it'll take rather longer than that (if it ever does).

By one measure you would imagine STIUTK would easily overtake SLY. SLY passed the million mark when somewhere in the 30s (no jokes about it being around since before the war) and STIUTK passed it when it was still in the top 10. So there should be no contest. It all depends on whether Gotye has the same sheer staying power as Adele, which I'm not sure it will. I'm still waiting for MLJ to overtake SLY, I still think it will, though probably not this year now.
