'Sigh No More' could re-enter the top 10 this week, it should at least overtake Lucy and No Doubt :D

I really hope it does return to the Top 10 - the last time this happened must have been The Fame re-entering due to Born This Way, and of course, 19 re-entering due to 21.

And for me :w00t:

God I'm sooo tired of that. I didn't watch the last series of BGT but I HATE the cliche of a big/unattractive person going on a reality show and everyone being shocked that they're not a waste of life. Being a big guy myself it bothers me a bit that that is the Great British Public's first perception of someone that isn't conventionally attractive. I guess it's the media's fault more than the public's though, I mean look at Michael Buble, he looked fine before, he looks emaciated now.

*rant over*

Yet if it's a really attractive male/female, the audience will be cheering before they even sing! And even if they are crap, they'll still cheer due to their "looks". You would have thought that after Susan Boyle that people would give everyone a chance (well, they should have given anyone a chance *before* Susan Boyle actually).

I'm actually quite surprised Gangnman Style is only 5000 ahead of The Script-I thought it would be miles ahead this week.

I think that's miles ahead on a Wednesday tbh.

For example if PSY have 12k and The Script 7k (we don't know, that's just speculation), that looks quite large (almost double of what The Script have) :D

Erm... The No Doubt return has just been appalling. I think people stopped caring about it like 2/3 years ago when there was still a huge demand for it, it's now been delayed so much and the music has been very average. The whole thing is a total anti climax and now look at what will be the albums peak. Ouch. :(

Singles sales must be low if the script are within 5k, PSY will only sell around 65k then!

Hope I Will Wait can do 150k would be great in this day and age - theyre bound to be on JR closer to xmas too!!

It must be more than that - if the Script drop 10% on the week then they'd be heading for approx 57,500 for the week in total, which would put them on about 30k at the moment, so PSY on 35k. Still a decent lead though (17%).

At the end of the day, PSY will be no.1 but not (at least for this week) as massive as everyone here has ovehyped. I think it's apalling garbage tbh.

I think this should be a third 200k+ seller for them, it's so far looking like having a great chart run. It should be close to if not over 70k-ish after this week and that's just 3 weeks, it should still be top 20 for a couple more weeks.

Bit concerned that single sales will drop below 3M for the first time this year. They were quite low last week and this week feels even more sluggish. :(

I hope not, it would ruin the sequence of this year. Singles sales were always above 3 mio this year.

Midweek Charts update: Mumford claim 2012's top opening UK sales

Source: MW

by Paul Willams

Mumford & Sons' Babel has become the fastest-selling artist album in the UK so far this year with two days of trading this week still to go.

The newly-issued Gentlemen Of The Road/Island title had sold nearly 123,000 copies since the beginning of the week by the end of trading on Thursday, according to the Official Charts Company. That means it has already beaten the previous best first week sales of 116,745 copies achieved by Polydor act Lana Del Rey's Born To Die at the begninning of February. Virgin artist Emeli Sande's Our Version Of Events started with 113,319 sales two weeks after that.

With the chance to accumulate more sales on Friday and Saturday, Mumford & Sons' album has every chance of topping 150,000 sales first week on its way to giving the band their first UK chart-topper. Debut album Sigh No More peaked at 2. Babel is also shaping up to achieve the highest week-one sales in the US this year with estimates putting its initial sales at upwards of 600,000 copies.

Trailing Mumford & Sons in second place by around 90,000 sales in the UK is the new Green Day Reprise/Warner Bros album Uno, while RCA act Pink's The Truth About Love falls 3-2 in the week to date and Vertigo/Mercury signings The Killers are at 4 having deuted at 1 last Sunday with Battle Born.

Britain's Got Talent 2012 runners-up Jonathan & Charlotte's Syco debut Together is new at 5 in the latest Sales Flashes, while Deadmau5's newly-issued Mau5trap/Parlophone album Album Title Goes Here appears at 7.

Island act Psy's Gangam Style is moving ahead in its quest to become the first ever Korean-language track to top the UK singles chart. Up to the end of Thursday it was around 14,000 sales ahead of Epic/Phonogenic act The Script featuring will.i.am's Hall Of Fame, which secured a second week at No 1 last Sunday. Atlantic act Flo Rida's I Cry climbs 9-3, Ne-Yo's Motown/Mercury single Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love) holds at 4 and Taylor Swift's Mercury track We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together rises 6-5. MInistry of Sound's DJ Fresh has the week's biggest new single with The Feeling featuring Ravaughn new at 10 in the midweeks.

Yes at Some Nights getting a new peak! Hope it doesn't drop too much come Sunday.

No Doubt are on The Jonathon Ross show on Saturday iirc, so hopefully it can give them a last push this week, or help stabilise for next week!

It must be more than that - if the Script drop 10% on the week then they'd be heading for approx 57,500 for the week in total, which would put them on about 30k at the moment, so PSY on 35k. Still a decent lead though (17%).

As I said it was just an example the numbers had nothing to do with the actual figures, I'm sure sales were higher Wednesday ;)

The US had the following sales last week:

01 Pink 280k

02 GOOD Music 205k

03 The Killers 113k

06 Carly Rae Jepsen 48k

Obviously the difference between our sales for Pink (79k) are a lot different, but we weren't far off with The Killers - 113k in the US compared to our 94k. Obviously their sales for Mumford & Sons are going to be incredible, possibly ~250k. Interesting comparison, I'd say.

250K for M&S in the US? LOL! they are heading for 610K first week...

Where are Call Me Maybe & Pound The Alarm in today's update please?

Va Va Voom up to #28 on iTunes. Hopefully it will be top 40 on sunday.

how random that amelia lily has jumped ahead of little mix!

Couldn't agree more. The video has a certain comedy value which my kids enjoyed but can't see it's appeal above that.
