September 25, 201213 yr James Merritt @james_merritt Good week for rock / alt music: Mumford & Songs, Green Day & Killers make up the album chart top 3. #midweeks 1:03pm - 25 Sep 12
September 25, 201213 yr hmmm... https://twitter.com/naoise https://twitter.com/i/#!/search/midweeks Sold more than Nelly Furtado already! Get those £££ No Doubt. :(
September 25, 201213 yr Surprised at Green Day being in the top 3...random. I guess the Billie Joe Armstrong controversy can't have harmed it. If No Doubt have sold around 4,000 (well, I'm guessing 'less than' suggests it's almost that?), what sort of position should we be expecting? Would that be enough to get them top ten with the sales like they are at the moment (excluding M&S obviously)?
September 25, 201213 yr scout/A&Rse/dreamcrusher @polydorrecords + Outsiders // fangirl @ http://cruelrhythm.tumblr.com @forthewinn damn. they've done 64K in midweeks today as well, can't believe that many people like banjos.

September 25, 201213 yr I wasn't expecting top twenty to be honest so I suppose it could be worse. If The Sweet Escape couldn't make top ten with a monster hit behind it then neither could this really.

Just not quite the huge comeback I was hoping for! Ha.
September 25, 201213 yr It's available from an album which is currently only a pre-order. It's the same situation as 'Paradise' and 'Give Me All Your Luvin''. But if I remember rightly 'Give Me All Your Luvin'' charted straightaway at Number 37, so it must have been chart eligible?
September 25, 201213 yr But if I remember rightly 'Give Me All Your Luvin'' charted straightaway at Number 37, so it must have been chart eligible? No, it charted a week later because MDNA's pre-order promotion lasted only one week long (After that it was taken down from iTunes). Afterwards the song was chart eligible. GMAYL lost 1 week sales.
September 25, 201213 yr But if I remember rightly 'Give Me All Your Luvin'' charted straightaway at Number 37, so it must have been chart eligible? In the second week it was available. It would have been top 20 overall had it been allowed to chart the first week.
September 25, 201213 yr Excellent sales for M&S!! Bought my copy now, gonna listen to it when I get in. Very pleased for them. Top3 as i expected (in that order too). I amreally hoping The Killers can re overtake Greenday though. Then the top 2 would be magnificent
September 25, 201213 yr In the second week it was available. It would have been top 20 overall had it been allowed to chart the first week. From the eventual total sales that were provided, and back calculating, its "missing" sales weren't actually enough for Top 20. The 13,862 sales that didn't contribute to the chart placings were actually split across two charting weeks. When it entered at #37, that wasn't a full week of sales going towards that position.
September 25, 201213 yr Author I love to see how Muse they are going to top those album sales next week, some how I don't see them charting at #1, M&S could spend a second week.
September 25, 201213 yr It makes me sad that Mumford & Sons have managed to sell 64k while No Doubt can't even manage 4k... :drama:

September 25, 201213 yr I love to see how Muse they are going to top those album sales next week, some how I don't see them charting at #1, M&S could spend a second week. Could happen. Muse will do around 100,000.
September 25, 201213 yr Muse's last album, 'The Resistance' (September 2009) opened with sales of just over 148k, so I can definitely see them getting 120k at least; which'll surely be enough to pip Mumford & Sons off the summit. Fantastic that the top 2 albums next week may get over 100k though - it's been far too long since this last happened.
September 25, 201213 yr Well if it wasn't for the banjo brigade it'd be an excellent top 2 :D 'Banjo brigade' is an odd nickname for Green Day! :P (Surprised but pleased to see The Killers still in the top 3, thought Jonathan & Charlotte would be up there fighting for #2 with Green Day - wherever they are now I wouldn't be surprised to see them end up higher on Sunday anyhow, as albums of that type often tend to do that). An expected but nonetheless brilliant massive opening for Mumfords, I'd have been disappointed if they couldn't get the fastest selling album of the year. I think 'Babel' could be a strong contender for the year-end #2 (Emeli probably won't be unseated especially with her re-release and Christmas sales), none of the other Q4 releases really scream stratospheric sales. I suppose the token TT/Robbie Christmastime release of the year (Robbie's 'Take The Crown') could challenge but it'd have to significantly improve on the performance of Robbie's last studio album to do so. And then there's Bublé's 'Christmas' re-release but I can't see that almost doubling its overall sales as would be required. Muse will definitely get the #1 album next week but 'Babel' could return to #1 again at some point down the line. Hoping 'Babel' can stay at least top 20 if not top 10 for the remainder of the year.
