That bloody Bruno Mars song doesn't deserve to be in the Top 3 <_<

So wait, Girls Aloud are currently selling less than a song with virtually no airplay (Ho Hey), AND a group of primary school kids?! I don't mind 'Something New', but that is pretty hilarious!

What is this s**t people are talking about how the Kelly Clarkson record isn't a proper single? The song is on Capital's playlist and the video is on the TV channels. It's just bombing because it's her lamest single in years.

Why are Athlete at #26? :o

One of my Top 40 favourite songs ever!

Olly Murs, Bruno Mars, Labrinth, Gabriella Aplin, Rihanna, One Direction, Robbie Williams, Alicia Keys and The Lumineers are occupying the top 9 positions on iTunes.

There's certain pop artists that seem to be in denial of the current musical shift that's happening.

No, it isn't. It's had barely any hype about it at all, it doesn't matter if she's got promotion, which is quite limited anyway.

I never actually noticed how "stripped back" the top 10 was. I mean, we've got a top ten full of ballads and then Robbie/Olly's "cheeky chap" laid back cheeky pop songs.

No dance songs or rap songs. :o

Ahhh-I knew there was a reason I liked the top ten at the moment

I started noticing this when I saw the year-end chart for 2011, and all the songs (except Party Rock Anthem) were stuff that Heart FM had been playing.

The charts are very adult contemporary at the moment, I think it's because in recent years older generations are downloading more and more now, whilst in, say, 2005, it was mainly (or at least a much higher proportion of) teenagers downloading most likely (so emo, etc. was starting to dominate then).

That post gave me an idea for the topic description for the mid thread

Why isn't Ke$ha promoting 'Die Young'? It's done pretty crap on the WW charts to be honest...

She is on Graham Norton this Friday.

Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble  30!

Hopefully a video is on its way to potentially boost it into the top 10!

 The 'Ho Hey' track is played to millions of people several times a day across most channels seeing as it part of a major advertising campaign.

'Ho Hey' is being heavily used on an advert, which probably gets more listens than if it would on radio! Especially peak times and it's on most ad breaks. The school kids thing, I'm unsure what airplay/backing they're getting, but they must be getting something... even if it's just major, local news. I wouldn't say it's got impact or anything. Girls Aloud will be held up by their second version (even if I did think it'd be about 100 places higher by now...).

No one said it wasn't a proper single... the release just feels like it hasn't been. Very little airplay, cancelled single release, no hype, no promotion, nothing. It's lost out on a full day of sales too (the biggest day for sales too I think). So there is a justification as to why it's doing terribly.
Girls Aloud update :

12. Something new (and 164)

75. Beautiful Cause You Love Me

161. On the metro

187. Every Now And Then

14. Something new (and 109)

Ah right. I personally haven't seen the advert with 'Ho Hey' very often (whereas in comparison, I saw the Internet ad featuring 'Too Close' EVERYWHERE), but apparently it does get played alot then!

Btw, does anyone know what'll happen with Imagine Dragons' EP, will it be included in the singles or album chart? (and does Radioactive chart separately or something?)
