Since when did GA turn into McFly? :drama:
Where did this go wrong?! :( I really thought the public wouldve liked this more, had major promo, catchy chorus etc. Shame really.
 I never really know the complete order of my favourite Christmas songs, but this would probably be 2nd. Gotta love that cash register.

It's a nice cynical touch isn't it

Wizzard  Love this, it's really early ABBA

It's VERY schlager isn't it, I still hear it in Charlotte Nilsson's Take Me To Your Heaven every time I hear that, you can sing the Wizzard chorus over the chorus of that and it has the same instrumentation.

On another note, UGH at how quickly Something New is falling, Beautiful Cause You Love Me is bombing so far too, will be extremely lucky to go top 20 :( Left too big a gap between the last era and this one, four years is an eternity in pop.

People have moved on from GA. Happened to Spice Girls in 2000.
No, that's the Slade - Alive At Reading EP (Cheapskate CHEAP11 which had a 5-week run reaching no. 44 from October 1980. The live version of the Christmas classis was on Cheapskate CHEAP11 and just poked its nose into the chart in December and got credited with a second week due to the chart for the first week of Jan 81 being a repeat of the 27 Dec 80.

Okay I'm still confused then, I can't find any evidence of this 'Slade and the Reading Choir' version of MXE existing on the Internet, aside from on that EP. I'll still take your word for it :P

As chart mod Jay pointed out the other day 'Something New' being #30 means Girls Aloud have now been in every position in the top 40 at least once during their career. See, it's not only me that makes these ridiculously geeky observations :kink:

This still feels like they wrote a chorus and, after a last minute realisation they needed a bit more to make a song, just crammed some really messy verses and hooks at the last minute. It can't seem to decide what it wants to be.

That Girls Aloud run is horrible. :( At least, as Jay pointed out on MSN during the week, they have now been at every position in the top 40!
I cant abide this song, The Script are capable of doing good but this is completely awful.
I hope Beautiful Cause You Love Me doesn't flop! :( And the Something New chart run is :(
Where did this go wrong?! :( I really thought the public wouldve liked this more, had major promo, catchy chorus etc. Shame really.

I don't think the chorus is catchy at all tbh.

That said, it's total sales won't end up as "bad" as it seems.

Oh well now you're just being silly.

Okay I'm still confused then, I can't find any evidence of this 'Slade and the Reading Choir' version of MXE existing on the Internet, aside from on that EP. I'll still take your word for it :P

Sorry, after looking again it appears I was wrong. That IS the CHEAP11 version and the one that hit no. 70 in December 1980. I was confused because I don't remember seeing it promoted as an EP, or appearing in the Book of Hit Singles or chartstats for example with an EP name rather than the title "Merry Xmas Everybody".

Apologies for misleading you.

Given how big One More Night was in the US (9 weeks at #1), I thought it would've been bigger than this in the UK. This is my favourite Maroon 5 song in ages for sure (since Misery or Makes Me Wonder).
