December 9, 201213 yr What a way to ruin a run of classic Christmas songs :manson: Just what I was thinking. :( At least there is another "Christmas" re-entry coming up...
December 9, 201213 yr It's amazing how the same five or six Xmas songs always rejoin the chart, practically in the order that they did every year previously. With this in mind, I wonder whether a public vote on the UK's favourite Xmas songs would throw up this result; 1. The Pogues feat Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York 2. Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You 3. Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday 4. Wham - Last Christmas 5. Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody 6. Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas? But then Band Aid and Wham would probably be 3rd and 4th, they've just spent far more sales than Wizzard have I guess. It's anybody's guess as to why Wizzard always come out in 3rd place chart wise (and above Slade who originally trounced them in 1973), perhaps it's more appealing to younger downloaders than the three below it?

December 9, 201213 yr The Script have so many songs which are lyrically retarded, this is also pretty up there.
December 9, 201213 yr Wizzard are normally 4th - they're ahead this year because they have a price reduction and Wham! don't. It is interesting how the order barely changes from year to year though. 'Six Degrees Of Separation' has grown on me loads, love it almost as much as 'Hall Of Fame' now  Hope it can go top 20 to avoid deserving a place on Gezza's flop thread :P
December 9, 201213 yr The Script have so many songs which are lyrically retarded, this is also pretty up there. It's not even close to being as bad as Hall Of Fame which is just 4 minutes of "you can be anything!!!!1111" Edited December 9, 201213 yr by Thermochristmas
December 9, 201213 yr The 1980 chart positions belong to a (live) re-recording credited to Slade and the Reading Choir so should be listed separately. Is this the release you're talking about? http://www.discogs.com/Slade-Slade-Reading...release/1960093

December 9, 201213 yr My favourite Xmas song, even beating efforts by Mariah and Delta. No other song gets me more into the festive spirit than Wizzard :D Most people under 30 probably wouldn't know who Wizzard were without this song, what a legacy!
December 9, 201213 yr  I never really know the complete order of my favourite Christmas songs, but this would probably be 2nd. Gotta love that cash register.
December 9, 201213 yr 1972 06 Ball Park Incident -NAS- 1973 01 See My Baby Jive -NAS- 1973 01 Angel Fingers -NAS- 1973 04 I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday -NAS- 1974 06 Rock And Roll Winter -NAS- 1974 34 This Is The Story Of My Love (Baby) -1- 1974 08 Are You Ready To Rock -NAS-[/b][/size] It's strange that they had all those hit singles and the one that wasn't a hit is the only one from an album.
December 9, 201213 yr Is this the release you're talking about? http://www.discogs.com/Slade-Slade-Reading...release/1960093 No, that's the Slade - Alive At Reading EP (Cheapskate CHEAP11 which had a 5-week run reaching no. 44 from October 1980. The live version of the Christmas classis was on Cheapskate CHEAP11 and just poked its nose into the chart in December and got credited with a second week due to the chart for the first week of Jan 81 being a repeat of the 27 Dec 80.
