January 14, 201312 yr I am guessing selling of iTunes vouchers will go straight away as well (as they did at GAME)?
January 14, 201312 yr Totally inevitable but at the same time very sad :( Like Woolworths really, one of the stores that has stayed with me all my life and I can't imagine how low sales are gonna go in the album market, surely sub 7k for a number 1 would look likely soon, probably some completely niche act could take advantage! I still like buying physical albums and will continue to do so as long as they exist, even if it means relying on Amazon or my local Tesco's
January 14, 201312 yr Author This is the likely outcome and is what is being reported now - Retail insiders said tonight that Deloitte was likely to be "inundated" with offers for parts of HMV's business, including its brand, but said it was unlikely that any buyer would emerge for the whole business. Would not surprise me for 50 stores and the website to be bought and continue to trade with the rest closing
January 14, 201312 yr Author I am guessing selling of iTunes vouchers will go straight away as well (as they did at GAME)? Yes as they are only paid for by HMV once they have been sold - That said its probably a wise move to activate any iTunes cards anyone has from HMV now on their iTunes account.
January 14, 201312 yr According to this, the use of gift vouchers in hmv has already been stopped: https://mobile.twitter.com/navbasiTLW/statu...9775873/photo/1
January 14, 201312 yr Usually when the press release goes out saying the company is entering administration they say at the same time that web sales and gift cards etc are suspended. They wouldn't wait until tomorrow to say that, the only reason it's not in administration right at this moment to co-incide with the press release is that the courts aren't open until tomorrow morning. The fact that delloite haven't physically come out and said all that stuff is suspended is a good sign that they think the business will survive in one form or another. Whether it's just as an online entity or with a substantially reduced high street presence is something that should emerge over the coming days.
January 14, 201312 yr Yes as they are only paid for by HMV once they have been sold - That said its probably a wise move to activate any iTunes cards anyone has from HMV now on their iTunes account. I never really understood why HMV sold iTunes vouchers in the first place. Surely it would of made more sense to promote hmv's very own download service an sell HMV digital vouchers

January 14, 201312 yr I never really understood why HMV sold iTunes vouchers in the first place. Surely it would of made more sense to promote hmv's very own download service an sell HMV digital vouchers  MAybe they got a decent profit from them? (if not, then I agree!)
January 14, 201312 yr Author I never really understood why HMV sold iTunes vouchers in the first place. Surely it would of made more sense to promote hmv's very own download service an sell HMV digital vouchers  Indeed - One of the many missed opportunities by HMV
January 14, 201312 yr Author I can't sign into my HMV account on the main website - Anyone else able too?
January 14, 201312 yr I got into my pure HMV account and spend 70,000 points 30mins ago. Can't load the website at the moment but that could just be my internet being its usual terrible self.
January 14, 201312 yr I can't sign into my HMV account on the main website - Anyone else able too? I can still access the site. I'm just worried if I buy anything online, I might not get the goods, and it be a wasted effort, so I'm not going to purchase anything.
January 14, 201312 yr May I ask, I just exchanged 162,250 points into £45 purehmv credit after being informed that HMV is closing and so I have the credit on my purehmv card. Is that credit usable still or the use of purehmv cards been halted already?
January 14, 201312 yr I have just accessed my account fine. Checked on my pre-orders and clicked random links inside my account and everything is working fine for me.
January 14, 201312 yr Author hmv Argyle St @hmvargylest Lots of support out there in twitter land but it's not over yet for #hmv. We'll be opening our doors tomorrow why not show your support.
January 14, 201312 yr Bye HMV - I'll miss you but the memories will stay with me forever. Top purchases - Madonna Erotica Aus Tour Edition, Kylie Cowboy Style, Madonna Deeper and Deeper 12" Picture Disc, Kylie Minogue 98 Hologram edition.
January 14, 201312 yr Are they crashing down the prices tomorrow? I don't want everything to be gone by the time i get there on the weekend!
January 14, 201312 yr I've visited HMV quite frequently for the past few years, it's really one of the only high street shops i take much interest in. Gonna be quite disheartening when it finally closes :( Looks like i might have to try out Amazon in the near future
January 14, 201312 yr Are they crashing down the prices tomorrow? I don't want everything to be gone by the time i get there on the weekend! It will probably start Wednesday. All new & current DVDs, CDs, etc will probably be sent back to the suppliers, so expect the sale to consist of pre owned stuff & old Razorlight albums they couldn't shift years back.
