Posted December 14, 201212 yr At the start of each new year albums which have been perceived as underperforming usually recover as people look for 'new' music after the Christmas clearout and start to spend iTunes/HMV gift vouchers, What albums do you think will recover in the New Year? I think there are several which could do really well next year - Frank Ocean - Channel ORANGE Lianne La Havas - Is Your Love Big Enough? Lucy Rose - Like I Used To Delilah - From The Roots Up Jessie Ware - Devotion Kristina Train - Dark Black I also think some of these past #1 could return and get some decent sales/weeks in the charts - The XX - Coexist Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg Connor Maynard - Contrast Would love to add Tulisa, No Doubt, Christina Aguilera and Nelly Furtado to the list but clearly its not gonna happen  Edited December 14, 201212 yr by Pop B!tch
December 14, 201212 yr Don't think there was any last year, there was Kasabian's Velociraptor! which made a return to the Top 40 after not really many weeks in the Top 40 before hand, and Foster the People's Torches re-peaked at about #13, and then of course The Vaccines and Beyonce's albums returned to the Top 10, but they were by no means under-performing albums! :P Frank Ocean - Channel ORANGE The XX - Coexist Jake Bugg - Jake Bugg Connor Maynard - Contrast I agree with these, especially Frank Ocean and Conor Maynard who have singles out officially early next year. December 14, 201212 yr I expect Jake Bugg to recover in a big way after a pretty quick descent down the chart initially. The xx could do as well but not as sure about that. Alicia might repeat what she did with 'The Element Of Freedom'. Maybe The Lumineers could get a much better peak than #20 as well but with 'Ho Hey' still being snubbed by radio and the high improbability of them getting anything close to a second hit maybe not.
December 14, 201212 yr I think Rita Ora will have a decent boost too, as she has another single out too.
December 14, 201212 yr I think Ke$ha's Warrior could do it, although them choosing C'mon could kill the album completely, there are so many better single choices! Perhaps Conor Maynard and Frank Ocean too. I hope Jessie Ware can but I doubt it.
December 14, 201212 yr I hope The Killers can have a decent boost - perhaps similar to what happened to Kasabian's Velocirpator?
December 14, 201212 yr I think Rita Ora will have a decent boost too, as she has another single out too. Radioactive is the sort of song that makes albums flop in the first place though, it's too generic for anybody to take interest. She'll need to release a ballad to have any hope of her album recovering imo. Out of the ones in the OP I'd love Frank Ocean, Jessie Ware, Conor Maynard and Delilah's albums to sell well next year. Conor's next single, like Rita's, will hurt album sales though, but the others might have a chance. Edited December 14, 201212 yr by Eric_Blob
December 14, 201212 yr Oh and Ellie Goulding 'Halcyon' PLEASE. I was just about to put this! With Figure 8 rising at the moment it's looking promising.
December 14, 201212 yr Alanis Morissette's latest album will rise to #1 and be another Jagged Little Pill for her :smoke: Maybe not. I'd like to see Conor Maynards album shoot up a wee bit.
December 14, 201212 yr Jessie Ware will breakthrough I imagine, her album is too good not too. 'Wildest Moments' will be used on an advert or TV show I imagine.
December 14, 201212 yr Alt-J's album might rise up the charts next year because of the inevitable success that they will have at the awards ceremonies.
December 14, 201212 yr Hopefully Contrast and channel ORANGE. Two incredible albums. I'm not sure about Warrior. I'm beginning to think it has no hope now  The Female Boss will likely repeak at #1 once Kill Me Tonight is released though :coffee:
December 14, 201212 yr Jessie Ware will breakthrough I imagine, her album is too good not too. 'Wildest Moments' will be used on an advert or TV show I imagine. I think she's already famous tbh, but hopefully her album can do even better in the charts. My favourite is Night Light, it's so catchy.
December 14, 201212 yr Alt-J's album might rise up the charts next year because of the inevitable success that they will have at the awards ceremonies. Oh yes I imagine 'An Awesome Wave' should re-peak (again) inside the top 10 in 2013 for some reason or other.
December 14, 201212 yr Jessie Ware really deserves an unlikely mainstream breakthrough at some point, 110% should've SMASHED the charts I think Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys and fun. could get boosts
December 14, 201212 yr I have a feeling Taylor Swift will be one of those artists that make a huge jump into the top five with the iTunes gift card/January sales effect. Alicia Keys will probably re-peak with her album (ala Element Of Freedom).
December 14, 201212 yr Author The Female Boss will likely repeak at #1 once Kill Me Tonight is released though :coffee: Amazing track - Should have been the follow up to 'Young' :drama: Tulisa and Dappy have both had some poor single choices but some banging album tracks
December 15, 201212 yr I expect Jake Bugg to recover in a big way after a pretty quick descent down the chart initially. Lighnting Bolt is being re-released on Christmas Eve and is bound to feature in various Olympic round-ups. Jake Bugg is also on Jools Holland's Hootenanny so all those factors could combine to give the album a boost. It hasn't fallen as fast as some number ones. He dropped out of the top 40 a couple weeks ago but has remained just outside and is a re-entry in the Friday update. He certainly hasn't disappeared without trace in the way some people thought.
