I agree that it was a good decision to get One Direction to do the comic relief song this year, because it will raise loads of money... However, it would be nice if they hadn't completely murdered 2 great songs to raise that money

Pointless observation of the week....

Sticking something in brackets in the title seems to be the new trend for number ones!

Five of the last 14 top 75 entries containing brackets have now reached number 1

One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)

Get Up (Rattle)

Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)

How We Do (Party)

Spectrum (Say My Name)

Well that's left a black STAIN on the list of 2013 #1s. Hope we get some great chart-toppers in the coming months to recover from this :(

JT, Mirrors #4  Another top 5 hit  Could be another #2 for him  Hopefully #1 at some point.

They've gone with Wiley and Chipmunk instead of Bastille. BOO R1.

But why would they? Pompeii >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Reload :D

The #1's this year have been DREADFUL!

That 'Thrift Shop' song just sounds dated and would have sounded original back in 2011 (when LMFAO and Pitbull were still hugely popular) but in 2013 it's a step back. The Bingo Players "song" is boring as hell and now we have One Direction at #1 with a shitty cover version. Not to mention the generic club song that sold purely because of a stupid Britney Spears accent.

Compared to last year (Twilight, Titanium, Domino) we are off to a very bad start.

I agree. For me the only good #1s this year are Scream & Shout and Thrift Shop. In fact the top 10 hits in general this year hasn't been great so far!

Not sure if serious... but yes, Pompeii is a thousand times better than Reload.

This one is arguable, as the album version is just called 'Spectrum'. There have been quite a lot of brackets in the #1s recently though.

It takes the piss that 'Little Things' and this pretty dreadful cover can both be #1s, yet their two best songs peak at #9.

Definitely the worst #1 this year by quite a stretch. Actually, I've quite liked the others so far. Last week's #1 was the best though.

OOPS. I misread your post as saying "they've gone with Bastille instead of Wiley" for some reason! sorry

Ah, but it was the remix that went to No.1, and that what Calvin's remix was called.
