March 20, 201313 yr Great lead by the saturdays. Huge drop for Hurts didnt expect such a fall, I suspected Bob Jovi would end up 11 or 12, its looking like having the same chart run as bounce which wasnt great either.
March 20, 201313 yr Oh yes! Reconnected top 40! :yahoo: I hope they remain there on sunday. ^_^ Shame The 1975 is not yet top 20 :(
March 21, 201313 yr I met the lads from Reconnected a couple of months ago. I didn't know anything about them but I was filled in by a hoard of screaming students from my school. Seem like nice lads, can't believe how young they are.
March 21, 201313 yr Ah, now I know who ReConnected are - Britain's Got Talent finalists (they were crap though, how they were placed higher than Harry Hill impersonator Paul Burling is beyond me!)
March 21, 201313 yr Author 76590 copies sold apparently for What About Us. Thanks. Pretty much made up 11k, probably around the same for today, or 2k lower. Still cutting it close to to reach 100k plus.
March 21, 201313 yr Hopefully The Sats have at least done 9k today taking them to 85k. They'll probably do 8-9k Friday, putting them at 93-94k. Saturday another 8k taking them to 101-102k me thinks? Surely their sales wouldn't go below that if they stay at #1 on iTunes since Justin's been doing around 9k most of the week at #2? Edited March 21, 201313 yr by Encore
March 21, 201313 yr So with The Saturdays almost certain to be number 1 on Sunday. I have a question, what is the longest time (or amount of singles) an act has released between debuting and getting a number 1 single?
March 21, 201313 yr So with The Saturdays almost certain to be number 1 on Sunday. I have a question, what is the longest time (or amount of singles) an act has released between debuting and getting a number 1 single? In recent times, Chris Brown first hit the charts in 2006 but only went to #1 in 2012 (longer than the amount of time that The Saturdays have waited and suffocated) Edited March 21, 201313 yr by Thermometer
March 21, 201313 yr Coldplay 2000 debut -> 2008 first #1 David Guetta 2002 debut -> 2009 first #1 Maroon 5 2004 debut -> 2012 first #1 DJ Fresh 2003 debut -> 2011 first #1 Wiley 2004 debut -> 2012 first #1 That's just looking at artists who had #1s last year (Chris Brown as already mentioned would also be here). I'm sure there are plenty more that beat The Saturdays.
March 21, 201313 yr I don't think The Sats will make 100K now. They've been red alot on Kworb today. Why lol? Stop stressing and just enjoy the fact that they're almost certain to finally get their #1 with their highest first week sales ever. Just enjoy that for now instead of analysing every little thing! We've waited this long to see them have success like this after all. :P But sure, there's every chance they might not make it to 100k but Justin's been at #2 all week selling around 9k - and the girls are still ahead of him. The girls are on 76k now. If they sell 8-9k from today til Saturday, like Justin has been, then they'll just scrape it. Edited March 21, 201313 yr by Encore
March 21, 201313 yr I don't think The Sats will make 100K now. They've been red alot on Kworb today. They have been red green and white all day It's really hard to tell though Especially with the EP still selling Edited March 21, 201313 yr by tim94

I'm sure there are plenty more that beat The Saturdays. I think The Saturdays might hold the record in terms of UK girl-groups - or maybe even girl-groups in general. Actually, I think Destiny's Child might hold it because they debuted in 1996 yet only got their first #1 in 2001.

Actually, I think Destiny's Child might hold it because they debuted in 1996 yet only got their first #1 in 2001. They debuted in 1998 if we're talking about the UK chart. Then they got their first #1 in 2000.

I'm sure there are plenty more that beat The Saturdays.Took Timbaland 8 years to get his first number 1 too! 1999 debut -> 2007 first #1 What about amount of singles released before the first number 1? Because it's not really fair to go on years. As some artists take longer breaks. I think The Sats have the same amount of albums released as Coldplay and Maroon 5 etc.. (or just short), but have done it with a lot less time etc... (releases as the main credit only - no features ) 911 had 10 releases before hitting number 1 with their 11th release, 'A Little Bit More'. Coldplay had 10 releases too before getting their first number 1. Maroon 5 did it with their 12th release. This will be The Saturdays' 14th release. My mind is drawing blanks when it comes to thinking of artists who seem to have taken a while to get a number 1, but from those I have checked up on, none of them come close to The Sats, so didn't bother mentioning them.
