When has a 'mid-week' release EVER gotten to #1 though? 'Skyfall', 'Suit & Tie' and 'Born This Way' all missed out, and those artists are a LOT bigger than Will.i.am (and Justin in the UK)

thats it. i give up.

i cant keep on like this - its such an injustice :'(

will.i.am is gonna come along and mess it up for the girls isn't he?

It could go either way. I don't think it will stop them this time. Saturdays have it in the bag imo.

Lol. Calm down.

It would be a shame but if will.i.am and Bieber overtake, they do.

Do people seriously think will.i.am even has the faintest chance of overtaking? :|

Will.i.am will have to make up 3 days of lost sales first. I can't see him at #1 maybe next week, Mikal said it perfect.

What makes you sure they won't?

I know they've barely had any airplay, but won't they sell on name alone? They might give them a run for their money surely? I'm just being pessimistic. :P You never know though... but then again they'd have to make up for the 50k The Sats have done so far plus whatever they have done today and then more with the 4 days they have left to get up there... ugh, I dunno. I hope not.

I'm quite sure it has happened before, although you're right that most - even the most anticipated releases - miss out.

No WAY will will.i.am and Justin be #1. Three days of lost sales, including the biggest sales day of the week (Sunday), plus a 30k lead between #1 and #2. AS IF.

We Found Love? Unfortunately it beat Moves Like Jagger. But at least I beat Bre in an arguement

Can't see it happening to the Sats though.

Whereas the lyrics for 'Run the World (Girls)' are incredibly profound.

When did I ever say the lyrics to RTW were great? What makes RTW brilliant is the music (and I'm not just talking about the sample). 'Scream & Shout' is terrible vocally, musically and lyrically, end of.

Also Little Things by One Direction and Shout by Dizzee Rascal weren't released on Sundays the week they got #1. Most X Factor winner singles as well I think.

The only one which sprung to my mind was Adele's Someone Like You, as without the BRITs performance on the Tuesday, it wouldn't have stood a chance of reaching number one that week, especially since it wasn't a single at this point.

But yeah, I knew an official mid-week release had reached #1 on first charting week before.

Duncan Bannatyne's new boyband Reconnected are on course to enter the top 40 this Sunday.

The trio, who released their debut single 'One In A Million' this week, are currently at number 32 in the midweek charts.

Breaking News:

Will.i.am releasing his new single midnight tonight

Don't blame me, it was someone in theiTunes thread here that said they both announced it on Twitter

That must be purely on physical sales, they aren't in the top 100 on iTunes?

oops I didn't realise  I read it on Haven first.

Gosh!!! :o

I knew The Saturdays have had a massive lead on iTunes but I was taking it as benefitting from a low sales week and that they were only heading for 80k tops for the week with JT selling around 45k.

I gave 'What About Us' another listen and it's not as bad as I gave it credit for earlier in the week.

Yeah but there are around 10 different versions charting in the top 1500 plus there are 3 EPs
