July 3, 201313 yr So John Newman easily on course for 100k this week, if he breaks 100k next week too, Avicii will definitely break 100k the week after, which will make it 14 weeks running that the #1 has sold 100k+ and I believe that will be a record, won't it?
July 3, 201313 yr I didn't think Sats would be 8 so maybe my prediction of peaking at 14 may not be now. I think 12 or 13 instead. Edited July 3, 201313 yr by Rob Summers

Nowhere near, for between 28/06/1997 and 03/01/1998 the #1 sold 100k+ for 28 consecutive weeks.
July 3, 201313 yr I think the Saturdays might JUST be able to sneak in at Number 10 but it depends if they freefall on iTunes obviously.
July 3, 201313 yr I think the Saturdays might JUST be able to sneak in at Number 10 but it depends if they freefall on iTunes obviously. I think it's between them and Daft Punk for #10, but I just can't see them making it somehow.

July 3, 201313 yr I think 13 was just the last longer one before the current streak. I think it was just the record for this decade?
July 3, 201313 yr •30 Days - 2 Blimey! :o And this fell to number 7 on the Sunday! -x- I was hoping John Newman would manage over 150k (didn't Naughty Boy manage it? There was certainly less hype for that) so it would be a shame if it "only" sold 130k/140k. I do hope The Saturdays can remain Top 10; I had predicted Top 5 for this so it wouldn't be too great for it to miss the Top 10 all together. Pleased that 'Broken' is looking to be Jake Bugg's third Top 40. All his singles were deserving of a Top 40 peak (less so for 'County Song') but at least the best ones made it. I'd prefer to see Mumford & Sons at number one in the albums due to it being more impressive to return to number one with a longer gap between being number one than Buble. Also, Buble will more than likely return to number one another week thanks to low sales and a busy July schedule for him. I doubt sales for the number one will be below 20k but I'd be surprised if it was over 30k unless Mumford & Sons gain a better lead. Really impressed by how successful The Rolling Stone's Grrr! has been. I think it holds the vast majority of their singles as well as a couple of new tracks so it would be a worthy buy, but I still wouldn't expect it to manage 30+ weeks, not in a consecutive run at least.
July 3, 201313 yr Keep in mind Naughty Boy's pre-order did quite a lot better than John's, so more hype or not, it's not surprising that John is unlikely to match him. He's still doing extremely well. And outdoing 'Feel The Love' of course!

He's still doing extremely well. And outdoing 'Feel The Love' of course! It's just that people here weren't expecting Naughty Boy to go to number one at all, whereas 'Love Me Again' is one of the most obvious number ones of the year, which is why I find it surprising. Same goes to 'Feel the Love' like you mention, people weren't expecting that to go to number one - I hadn't even heard it before its release! - so I'd expect it to do better than that.
July 3, 201313 yr I wouldn't say people weren't expecting Naughty Boy to go to #1 :P And I certainly did expect 'Feel The Love' to get there as well but I was one of the only ones at the time :kink:
July 3, 201313 yr The Editors are doing better than i expected although i suspect will drop throughout the week, il be happy if they hold top 10 though.
July 3, 201313 yr I'm surprised the Saturdays are top 10 - their worst single ever in my opinion. Edited July 3, 201313 yr by Jack89
July 4, 201313 yr I wouldn't say people weren't expecting Naughty Boy to go to #1 :P And I certainly did expect 'Feel The Love' to get there as well but I was one of the only ones at the time :kink: So did I but I think feel the love didnt get capital airplay until they realised it would be huge!!
July 5, 201313 yr Author Hopefully we have an update pretty sharpish :P We don't have any charts yet, all we have is the MW report in the next post with all the necessary info ripped out.
July 5, 201313 yr Author Hopefully this means he'll pass I love it's sales last week. Only done 28k in the past 2 days, another 28 to 30k, should bring him just under 130k, hopefully it be enough to pass Icona Pop's sales. This could be the last week of the over 100k consecutive's weeks, John could still get a second week at #1 though, but his second week's sales could dip below 100k next week.
