September 29, 201312 yr Really wasn't expecting 'Supersoaker' to hang on either! :o HOORAY though. Much better than 'Wait For Me' still, for me. Has grown into one of my faves of theirs, definitely deserved more than a solitary week top 40.

The band is composed of brothers Anthony Caleb Followill (b. January 14, 1982, lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Ivan Nathan Followill (b. June 26, 1979, drums, percussion, backing vocals) and Michael Jared Followill (b. November 20, 1986, bass guitar, backing vocals), with their cousin Cameron Matthew Followill (b. Kings of Leon achieved initial success in the United Kingdom with nine Top 40 singles, two BRIT Awards in 2008, and all three of the band's albums at the time peaking in the top five of the UK Albums Chart. Their third album, Because of the Times, also reached the number one spot. After the release of Only by the Night in September 2008 the band achieved chart success in the United States. The singles "Sex on Fire", "Use Somebody", and "Notion" all peaked at number one on the Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart. The album was their first Platinum-selling album in the United States, and was also the best-selling album of 2008 in Australia, being certified platinum nine times. September 29, 201312 yr Was it just me who was expecting Wait For Me to benefit from the album's release rather than Supersoaker? This isn't bad though
September 29, 201312 yr By the way 'Gun' only peaked at #55, corrected that on their chart history. I'm guessing you're now happy that you can edit the chart posts  :P
September 29, 201312 yr Was it just me who was expecting Wait For Me to benefit from the album's release rather than Supersoaker? This isn't bad though Supersoaker is miles better than WFM which I find a little bland :( Edited September 29, 201312 yr by *Rob*
September 29, 201312 yr 'Wait For Me' was a pre-order track though, so presumably the sales it lost that way outweighed what it gained from album release. Actually, do we know whether the OCC will have deducted those sales from its total? I kind thought they didn't but I don't think I've ever seen it made clear.

Originally the solo project of singer/songwriter Dan Smith, Bastille expanded to a quartet after he decided to form a band and got some of his friends involved. The band attracted a lot of attention after putting a few tracks online, leading to support slots at major U.K. festivals like Glastonbury and the Isle of Wight. While their lush, heavily '80s-inspired melodies, anthemic choruses, and literate, emotionally raw lyrics, delivered in Smith’s swooping voice, undoubtedly appealed to kids weaned on the sounds of La Roux and Florence + the Machine, at least part of the hype was due to the flagrantly copyright-breaching videos that Smith, an ardent film buff, edited together out of footage from old movies like Terrence Malick’s Badlands. Eventually they secured a deal with hip indie label Young and Lost Club and released their debut 7” single, Flaws/Icarus, in July 2011. This was followed later that year by Laura Palmer EP, named for the teenaged murder victim in David Lynch’s cult '90s TV series Twin Peaks; the creepy accompanying video for the track “Overjoyed” was also heavily inspired by the series. The group returned in 2013 with their debut album Bad Blood. ~ John D. September 29, 201312 yr This is of course fantastic, but I've gotten tired of it due to overplaying it myself. :P

Actually, do we know whether the OCC will have deducted those sales from its total? I kind thought they didn't but I don't think I've ever seen it made clear. Almost certain they don't deduct sales like the US chart does, otherwise there's no way 'Mirrors' would have done so well in the week of Justin's album release (as well as countless other examples).
September 29, 201312 yr Looks like it's time for my weekly #Justice4LauraPalmer post. That song really shouldn't have flopped :(
September 29, 201312 yr Looks like it's time for my weekly #Justice4LauraPalmer post. That song really shouldn't have flopped :( It seemed like such a good single choice, and is of course the best on the album... Don't know what happened. :( Didn't deserve it anyway. </3
