I see it as a culmination of the early 90s house music influences returning to the mainstream this year (See: Duke Dumont etc.). Of course Altern 8 were acid house and not house per se but the point still stands.

Can see a genuine Top 10 contender here! Top one, nice one, get sorted.

I actually think that choice is rather inspired, nice to see its not another rock classic. What was last year's campaign track? I thought it was Smells Like Teen Spirit but I think that was the year before.

Yep that was 2011, can't remember if there even was a similar campaign last yr

I do like the Altern8 song, was quite confused to see it suddenly appear as a pre-order!

26. Rudimental - Free (feat. Emeli Sandé)

It seems that it will take a long time to be in The Top 10 (If it happens..)

29. Avicii - Hey Brother

50. Katy Perry - Unconditionally

The video is stunning...

81. Jessie J - Thunder

It's quite good song. Nice choice for a 3rd single..

86. Enya - Only Time

Magic song..

I don't think it's going to get there to be honest. Hopefully top 20 though.

JLS at #31. :o Bloody hell. To think that they had a string of #1 singles and a million selling album a few years ago!! Now it looks like they'll spend one week top 40 with their last ever single.

It's been rising quickly this week mainly because it's reaching its peak plays on radio 1 hopefully it can do the same next week, it's a great track!

So no radio station supported JLS?

Maybe just small local ones. I'm not aware of any big ones that have.

As for Rudimental, Right Here (which was amazing) missed out on top 10 too, which is why I don't think this will get there either. :( I know I've been saying this for months, but I really want Baby to be their next single.

The chart geek inside of me really can't stand all these instant grat, pre-order, OA/OS singles that are being released these days. It makes the charts more interesting but it's so hard to keep up and tell what singles are eligible and what aren't.

I look at it this way (at least for acts I don't like)... ;)

By releasing instant-grat singles, they are saving us from the top of the charts being clogging up with them post-album. Also, decades down the line when people look at 'British Hit Singles', they'll say 'They were overrated - look at how the first single(s) from their albums flopped'...

I think there is a campaign to get AC/DC to #1 as well as this Altern 8 campaign.

Yes, I know. But Something New was not their LAST single. BCYLM was.

Why are Altern 8 back in the charts?

20year anniversary?

Ugh. Wizzard back below Pogues. Ew. (I know they were never ahead when Pogues were combined anyway, but still!) I wish sometimes it was more than just the usual Mariah & Pogues takeover! I want one year where Wizzard reign supreme. :(
