November 27, 201312 yr Author Talk about OneD clutter, and those sales yesterday for OneD's album was correct, and added some more sales info. Ker-ching :D Thanks to Joe for the update.
November 27, 201312 yr Over the moon with the performances by Gary Barlow and Olly Murs on both charts. The albums top 2 is looking exactly like i thought it would. I did expect Gary Barlow to do well but was not so sure about Olly Murs repackaged album. Disappointed with Dido like many others here but part of me expected it. One Direction sales are highly impressive and will end up much higher than their previous opening weeks, which is great for them considering the overall decline in sales. November 27, 201312 yr Just noticed that 'Hard Out Here' is down to #28 :o Last week I genuniely thought that it might climb a bit in its second week - it was obvious that wasn't going to happen but even so I wasn't expecting it to fall quite so much! What's the betting that this will be demoted to 'promo single' fairly soon and a new song will be released when 'Somewhere Only We Know' dies down? :P
November 27, 201312 yr What's the betting that this will be demoted to 'promo single' fairly soon and a new song will be released when 'Somewhere Only We Know' dies down? :P Yeah, although I guess it effectively already is a promo single of sorts.
November 27, 201312 yr Wonder if Gary could sell 100,000 in his first week? It would be amazing for him after what happened with 12 months!
November 27, 201312 yr Great stuff for Calvin/Alesso and Breach! :yahoo: The OCC need to do something about the 1D clutter though. :puke:
November 27, 201312 yr When people use the "complete album" option on iTunes, will that count towards the album chart? What about the songs previously purchased? Will the sales of those be counted towards the single chart?
November 27, 201312 yr #28 for Dido on the albums :( I brought the deluxe edition today. i find it disheartening that an artist like her has gone from being 3million per album, to barely getting any sales with new releases. underrated Its about momentum. She left the scene for ages.

November 27, 201312 yr surely that's cheating?! If that's 'cheating' then literally every artist who's released an album in the digital era has cheated.
November 27, 201312 yr I hope Take That go head to head with 1D next Christmas. Another album for 1D to beat :D :cheer:
November 27, 201312 yr Yes and yes. This is what I just don't understand. I thought I had finally got my head around the whole instant grat thing, but this doesn't make sense now. So, for example, I paid 99p for Do What U Want and Venus, but didn't preorder the album. Now, I can use the complete my album function surely but those two purchases of the individual songs did not count towards sales as the tracks had been deemed ineligible. Isn't it the case that it's only after the album is released that this applies? So, for 1D for example, the sales of those tracks last week will just be lost forever, like Gaga's promo tracks. So, if the complete my album is used now, but the tracks had been purchased last week, the sale will rightly only count towards the album chart? But if I was so inclined to go on and buy Midnight Memories (the song) tonight but then used complete my album next week, would that count as a sale for both album and single? God, I'm confusing myself now  but it really doesn't make any sense at all.
November 27, 201312 yr Oh wow. Little Mix's staying power is great so far! 4-8-11(?) I'm happy with. So glad they managed two weeks top 10 this time <3 I hope the following weeks they can remain steady. I think their debut went 3-11-13-14 or something.

'DNA' did fall quite a bit last year, but it actually sold more at #11 than 'Salute' did at #3. Guess that's an indication of how awful sales are at the moment (that being said, their debut was released a bit nearer Christmas, so that probably helped).
November 27, 201312 yr Another album for 1D to beat :D :cheer: Take That would probably outsell 1Ds weekly total on their first day

God, I'm confusing myself now  but it really doesn't make any sense at all. I think either I misunderstood you or you misunderstood me here (probably the former). I'll try again ~ If you downloaded 'Do What U Want' and 'Venus' as instant grats without pre-ordering the album, then completed the album, the sales for the songs would still be 'lost' and it would just count as a sale for 'ARTPOP'. If you downloaded 'Midnight Memories' (the song) now and then completed the album it'd count as a sale for both the single and the album. (Same applies to if you downloaded 'Do What U Want' now and then completed the album, would count as a sale for both, but the song's sales while it was an instant grat will never be included in its total).
