Didn't Shayne Ward get six million votes though compared to Sam Bailey's one?

I think it was 6 million total votes on the final. I know Leona's year got 8 million total votes in the final.

Come on unconditonally

Not doing as well as i thought i expected top 20

(Interestingly, X Factor's ratings are also a pretty bad predictor of how well the winner's single will do, as the Shayne Ward series was one of the lowest-rated of all of them iirc.)

And more recently James has had the second biggest overall selling winner's single (I don't know how far it is behind Alexandra but it's POSSIBLE he may even overtake her at some point) despite last year's series having comparatively bad ratings.

I think Sam is going to be the first female winner to fail to have significant success after her winner's single, at least in the singles chart (I could see an album by her doing pretty well but I really don't see much potential for singles success, especially if she ends up just doing covers as I've heard rumours about).

'Midnight Memories' still only #44 - I was certain this would end up in the iTunes top 10 after their performance :o It might not even reach a new peak at this rate (though it obviously will as airplay increases and whatnot). Hope this is an indication their album might not get Christmas #1 after all, I think it could be Beyoncé now although the fact she's missing out on those first 2 days of massive hype and corresponding massive sales may not help her (she's still #1 on iTunes though).

AC/DC are back  to #9.

I think Beyonce will stay around #5 or could fall this week. She'd need to sell probably 150k to get the Xmas #1 album and I don't see that happening through downloads alone (and maybe one day of physical sales) when people will be primarily gift buying this week. Plus as you said, the hype will have lead most interested parties to download it in the first couple of days. The album could easily climb to #1 in the new year though.

ouch Pharrell and Jason Derulo just increased against Sam Bailey already better hope for very good physical sales

You are probably right but I would have never expected Beyoncé to come close to the top 5 last week so I thought I shouldn't underestimate her :P It is most likely to be another week of 1D and Robbie in the top 2, Gary could contend as well if his performance has helped him but based on 'Face To Face' doing practically nothing I'm not too sure about that.

I think the top 5 albums will be made up with the same artists from this week but i predict

01 One Direction

02 Robbie Williams

03 Gary Barlow

04 Beyonce

05 Olly Murs

Thank god for X Factor then or it would be another week of 40,000 sellers.

Although if it wasn't for X-Factor perhaps there would have been some big new releases so sales wouldn't have been that low anyway.

What a dull Christmas chart week. Sam Bailey reaching #1 with Pharrell as the closest competition, haha.

The Big Reunion should get a T15 hit out of their cover, while the AC/DC campaign is doing relatively alright (better than the Nirvanna one last year?) Poor effort from everyone else though, what happened to Susan Boyle and Elvis Presley?

The Nirvana campaign was in 2011. There wasn't a direct copy of the RATM campaign at all in 2012 (2010's was John Cage, but an unrelated campaign for The Trashmen was much more successful).
What time in the evening do iTunes usually update their banners/stickers etc?
Hope AC/DC can get a Top 10 hit - They have been releasing singles since 1974 and not managed to trouble the Top 10 and I think they hold the record for the act with the most Top 40 singles not to reach the Top 10? On the other hand it's quite sad that after years of hard work an XF backlash could provide them with their biggest hit and alter chart history!
2010 #08 Biffy Clyro - Many Of Horror

Wasn't there a campaign for this to go to #1 instead of Matt Cardle's version as well? Biffy Clyro would have almost definitely made the Top 40 regardless though, probably Top 20.

There was, yes, but it's not really quantifiable how much that helped unlike The Trashmen and John Cage who would not have charted anywhere without their campaigns.

This is probably the most boring Christmas chart 'race' ever. I'm not blaming X factor for it, Sam will probably only do 200k and could easily be beaten if anything interesting was released. These campaigns are old now and boring. As much as I find Leona as interesting as an orange at least she has a new Christmas song and had a stab at things.

I'm surprised to see quite a few versions of 'Highway To Hell' in the itunes Top 300 chart.

It's currently at #252, #237, #166, #118, #95, #85 and at #9.

Probably not enough for Number 1, but should end up Top 5, if not Top 3. :)

Is Sam Bailey stalling?

I don't think she's going to sell as little as 200k and even if she did, only one other song has sold over 200k in a week the entire year so it's not exactly 'easy' to beat.

On an unrelated note, the Christmas songs seem to have died a bit - unless they start resurging heavily later on in the week, expecting them all to see falls.
