Still a poor result for The Pogues. They have every year multiple versions but the highest is always in the top 40.

edit - and as I post this, it's already outdated by 0.1 hours! But you get the general idea of where songs are charting though :P

I don't think Sam's going to even manage a full week on top of iTunes.
I don't think Sam's going to even manage a full week on top of iTunes.

With a ~70% lead, I don't see why she wouldn't stay on top for the whole week. I can even see her getting 2 weeks officially because of physicals, she won't last any longer than one and a half weeks on top of iTunes though.

Do we know why Mariah is higher on Christmas week than The Pogues for the first time EVER? Any significant boosts?

Because the nation has finally realised it's the far superior Xmas Classic. :smoke:

I think it's mostly due to her version being available on the Now Xmas album for the first time.

I hope Happy sticks around would love the track to be the first #1 in the new year.

And I have to agree with Thermo, Sam will probably stick at #1 for 2 weeks at least as Sam will have a full week of physicals next week. well 6 days, some shops are open Boxing Day, depends on stock levels.

Unlikely considering 'Timber' is released 29 December and is already high on pre-orders (#103)
I hope ASDA actually stock the winner's single this year. I remember having to go to HMV because ASDA didn't have it in / weren't getting it in. <_<
omg I didn't even notice AC/DC there! Would it be just AMAZING if it was actually #1 but obviously it won't happen :(

I was talking about the top version, its usually higher. Wizzard will struggle to go top 40 this week & gutted about Kelly Clarkson!!

Sams lead isnt great her Monday sales of 45k are poor too. Id say she will do 200k with cds & maybe get 2 weeks at the top with cd sales from next Sunday, Monday & Tuesday but after that Pharrell/ Pitbull should be the first no1 of 2014!

Mariah and Pogues are always the Christmas front runners with the Pogues usually ahead so it is great that Mariah is ahead this year. That said, in overall terms they are very close in sales with about 100,000 separating them overall, but when you consider the Pogues had 2 different years of physical releases to Mariahs 1 and the Pogues is available for that few extra years they are more or less on par with each other in terms of sales.

I'd like to think it could be due to her comeback this year with '#Beautiful' and people noticing her again outside of December, but probably not.

Also i'm assuming all Beyoncé tracks are album only atm?

Leona Lewis "One More Sleep" #3, #286 & #1217. EP is #235 on the album chart.

Hopefully that will keep Leona at #3 for a while and she'll remain there officially this Sunday. ^_^

Their top version is back inside the top 40, #39 for me. They're still top 20 in the mids (i.e. not doing much worse than in previous years at all). I would expect all the Xmas songs to start climbing again towards the end of the week anyway and The Pogues/Mariah at least should get one more week top 100 again with the extra half a week of pre-Xmas sales. The Pogues actually stayed top 40 last year (#32) with the partial Xmas sales week, perhaps Mariah might do that this year.

The 'few extra years' argument doesn't exactly apply to the pre-digital era :P You'd have to factor in the relative sales levels for singles in their respective years as well (I don't know what they were like so I'm not necessarily refuting your point).

Until 20/12, yes.

That's Beyonce!

In her video for 'Haunted'

I work in HMV and checked the stock computer today for Sam's single and we'd sold 708 copies today and 215 yesterday (they didn't get delivered until like 2pm yesterday though). My manager said he was expecting it to be more popular but I thought those figures were quite impressive considering we're in the middle of a shopping centre and not exactly a massive store.

HMV selling it already? :o

If only there was still one in my high street. :snif:
