I'm guessing she wants a top ten effect. Having multiple versions can hinder that somewhat.

They should have deleted the other version lingering in the 40s in that case.

That's the instant grat from the album, it does make more sense in terms of tidiness to keep it out of the two, but they should've just left it at the single version alone...

Yes another poorly handled Kylie release.... It almost seems they want her to become a #28 charting artist... I thought they would have learnt from the 'Timebomb' disaster

Hahaha, I knew Kylie's single version was going to be deleted within days from the moment I saw that it had been made available as an instant grat this week as well - this has happened a few times before with other artists, such an utterly pointless strategy. Why even bother releasing the single version?

When last year was CGYOOMH reduced to 59p? It never got higher than #508 at any point - I would have expected it higher than that at 59p...

Well you've already acknowledged a few times that CGYOOMH sells extremely slowly on downloads, so surely you would realise that it'd only be as *high* as #508 if it had been boosted by something?

Outside of R1, Kylie's airplay has been pretty decent Enrique or Flo Rida aren't on R1 either. You're correct. It comes down the the british public being like sheep and caring more about what they think is "coo"l over what's actually decent pop music.

Actual answer: its airplay is not coming from stations that tend to lead to download sales. A song can have masses of airplay from 'all the other stations' but if it's not getting any from Radio 1, Capital or (to some extent) Heart it's highly unlikely to sell in any significant quantity. 'Into The Blue' hasn't had support from any of those stations AFAIA, it's done fairly well given its circumstances.

Or maybe people just don't like the song. I think you severely overestimate the number of people (who download music) who'd not download a song they like just because they don't think it's 'cool' (i.e. if you estimate that number to be more than zero, you're probably overestimating).

EDIT: I've been informed that 'Into The Blue' is actually playlisted by Capital, though that doesn't necessarily mean they're actually playing it. I rarely listen to Capital so someone else would have to provide the anecdotal evidence there ~

That's enough posting about Kylie in the iTunes thread to do me for life now.

In other news, Route 94 is creeping back towards DVBBS (they never really built up a lead) and may be back at #1 later today. Can't see DVBBS missing #1 officially now though.

In other other news:

 82. Our Time - Lily Allen

Also:

 86. Stay High (feat. Hippie Sabotage) [Habits Remix] - Tove Lo

This is quite good, I didn't realise Tove Lo was anything more than a random person BuzzJack loves so quite surprised to see her charting.

Also also:

 94. 36 (feat. Lotti) - Redlight

Looks like this should be a comfortable top 100 hit then with the EP sales combined.

It's Radio 1's track of the day apparently.

She's gonna be huge  (just with anything but this remix please)

Still amazed at how high those Enrique & Flo Rida songs are (both terrible) without Radio 1. Why doesn't this happen for other songs?
I don't really understand the whole 'rolling chart' thing about iTunes, but is that why 'Into the Blue' hasn't started climbing back to the position it was previously at?

It has started climbing :P Has had a big gain on the last 2 Kworb updates.

It happens with lots of other songs, if they get played lots on Capital or MTV or the artist has a big fanbase.

Itunes position are based on the last 24 hours sales, so all the sales that the main ITB was getting (the single version thats been deleted) are now taken out of the equasion. It won't be till 24 hours after it was deleted that we'll get a better picture of how its selling now.

The tracking period of iTunes is not precisely known but is definitely a LOT longer than 24 hours.

Yep, I think it might be like 5 days to a week. That early version of Happy from around Christmas was still charting ages after it was made 'album only'

129. Cody Simpson - Surfboard

Just on pre-orders :cheer: Released a week today, hopefully can go top 40!!
