I love the SecondCity song too. I think it sounds quite different to the others, as it has a darker more intense feel to it. A lot of the others like I Got U or Rather Be are really happy and up-lifting in comparison.

I don't know why people are saying these songs all sound the same. Yeah, there are a few that are quite similar like the Chris Malinchak and Klangkarrussell songs, but we haven't had a Starships/Pound the Alarm or Just Dance/Poker Face situation where an artist releases the exact same song twice and gets away with it. The dance-pop domination years were much worse for songs sounding the same.

There's a lot more variety now imo, there are many genres all having success in the charts now like deep house, drum & bass, trap, hip hop, R&B/soul, disco, afrobeats, UK garage, etc. We even had a grime song go top 20 recently, and moombahton song got to #3!

Well Sam Smith his performing his #1 single sometime during an ad break on Channel 4

Maybe this will give him the extra push (10:45 Friday 30th)

10:45 is hardly prime-time TV I suppose, but it should still give him a boost. I'm interested in how much this would have cost though.

I thought West Coast was an official single release? Either way, I refuse to accept 'instant grat' singles, as I believe it is a practice that should not be encouraged.

'Official single' and 'instant grat' are not mutually exclusive. It's been released as both (and I bet the single version will be deleted soon because that usually happens when artists release a single and an instant grat of the same song within days of each other).

What exactly do you mean by 'refuse to accept'?

Beating Heart  10

Extraordinary  11

Well what do you know :o

Beating Heart is now 59p.

Oh that explains it :heehee:

I am pleased for her anyway, just heard 'Beating Heart' for the first time last night and it's actually a lot better than I expected (though I'm not really sure why I expected something bad considering I've loved almost all of her previous singles). Hope it can finish the week in the top 10.

 66. The Drop (feat. Cherri Voncelle) - Lethal Bizzle

Is someone spamming Twitter again? :P

Twin Atlantic's Free into the top 100 albums, at least something good has came from the single release. Shame that Free or Crash Land (not released) didn't make an impact on the chart

not a fan of the new direction at all, sounds like 80's stadium rock crossed with a boyband chorus

Loads of people will be out on a Friday night as well.

I was thinking it'd be 10:45 in the morning, but either way it's not exactly prime time. 1.5 million people is still a good audience to perform to though.

By my calculations.

Combined

1-Sam Smith - SWM 1.0521

2-Secondcity - IWF 1.0438

very intense battle now but I think Secondcity still have it in the bag this week :(

Oh no, even though the SecondCity track is nothing special, I still prefer it over this whiny ballad from Sam Smith¡

Besides, I don't want him to spend 2 weeks at the top (well, I don't want any song to remain on top for longer than a week but that is another story )

How dull the chart would be with only one weaker no.1s. Mr Probz rebound being the current only saving grace.
I don't think it will die until it gets that top 10. Would love it to make it
I REALLY want it to do so. I don't care if it's an impressive chart stat to not make Top 10, it's an incredible song.
