The battle for #1 is between Cheryl Cole collaborating with Tinie Tempah and MAGIC!, with their respectable new singles "Crazy Stupid Love" and "Rude", who will be crowned #1 this Sunday? Other new single releases come from Charli XCX "Boom Clap", Neon Jungle "Louder", X Ambassadors & Jamie N Commons "Jungle" all vying for a top 10 position, other new entries from Cher Lloyd "Sirens", MK feat Alana "Always" and La Roux might just scrape the top 40 with her brand new release "Uptight Downtown". As for the albums Ed Sheeran seems to have a firm footing at the top for quite some time, is aiming for a 5th week at #1, there is hardly any competition this week. The only new album to appear in the top 5 will probably come from La Roux "Trouble In Paradise", with further new albums down the chart from King Creosote, Ward Thomas, Yes and the new compilation album NOW 88. ======================================================= Please note new changes to the Sunday Chart Predictions thread topic: Tuesday/Thursday - There will be no mids from MW for Tuesday and Thursday, however they may come from other sources - this is not always guaranteed. July 22, 201411 yr If ever Cheryl gets to #1 this week, would she hold some kind of new record? "Most #1s singles for a female British artist" is already 4 is I'm not mistaken, so she wouldn't beat it. But has any other acts managed to get #1 with 4 consecutive lead singles? Surely it doesn't happen all the time? Rihanna has 4 #1 lead singles as well but not consecutive (and probably 5 by the end of the year  ). Robbie Williams has 5 #1 lead singles but not consecutive. Edited July 22, 201411 yr by Hayzayy
July 22, 201411 yr But has any other acts managed to get #1 with 4 consecutive lead singles? Surely it doesn't happen all the time? I think Westlife may have had a few but I couldn't tell you exactly how many. Oasis must be at 4 or 5 I reckon too. Edited July 22, 201411 yr by Campbell
July 22, 201411 yr I believe Westlife had 4 consecutive & 5 overall. Mind you the 4th in that chain was from a greatest hits compilation. Edited July 22, 201411 yr by Dobbo
July 22, 201411 yr I think Westlife may have had a few but I couldn't tell you exactly how many. They have 6 according to Wikipedia indeed - including 4 consecutive! Swear it again My love Queen of my heart Unbreakable - You raise me up The rose Edited July 22, 201411 yr by Hayzayy
July 22, 201411 yr Ah yes I forgot The Rose. Thinking about it I'm sure Madonna must have the record for total lead number 1's. Edit: Just checked Wiki & I counted 8! Edited July 22, 201411 yr by Dobbo
July 22, 201411 yr Thinking about it I'm sure Madonna must have the record for total lead number 1's. True, she has quite lot!
July 22, 201411 yr Author True, she has quite lot! But if we are talking about British artists, Madonna will be excluded... I think The Beatles come to mind.
July 22, 201411 yr But if we are talking about British artists, Madonna will be excluded... I think The Beatles come to mind. and Westlife
July 22, 201411 yr I hope Cheryl Cole doesnt get to no1. Its not a great song. Rude is a much better song and more deserving of being no1.

Robbie Williams has 5 #1 lead singles but not consecutive. I guess you could say she's the female with the most consecutive LEAD singles to go to number 1 then, because even though Geri has her 4 consecutive number 1's, they aren't all leads as three of them were from the same album. If 'Crazy Stupid Love' goes to number 1 anyway I think she'll at least be the first British female to do this if I'm not mistaken. :P Edited July 22, 201411 yr by Jade
July 22, 201411 yr Author A little dickie bird just told me Cheryl is on 66k :o Liam will be along soon to fill in the blanks.
July 22, 201411 yr A little dickie bird just told me Cheryl is on 66k :o Wow, for sure? That's good, she probably did 15k on pre-orders, 35k on Sunday and 15k on Monday :) Call my name had sold 79,244 in the tuesday update, so it isn't doing as well (but that was expected) but still she should easily clear the 100k mark :cheer: If it follows the same pattern as Call my name, Crazy stupid love should have sold around 125k by the end of the week. Any info on how much MAGIC has sold so far? Edited July 22, 201411 yr by Hayzayy
July 22, 201411 yr Sadly it is really starting to look like Cheryl Cole wont be beaten to number 1. I am on the fence when it comes to Cheryl, i dont love or hate her but i find her latest single extremely average.
