July 24, 201411 yr I do wonder if when Tinie comes back with lead single for album #3 it'll be a hit, maybe these pointless features could work in reminding the public he still exists. He just needs to release the right songs this time. Children of the Sun was a poor choice especially as the leading single into the album.
July 24, 201411 yr I think 'Trampoline' was probably a poor choice of lead single as much as I love it. The British public don't tend to take too well to our artists going super-American most of the time. (I still think 'Children Of The Sun' sounded like it should have (rightfully) been an enormous hit though, no idea what went so wrong with that ) I do believe he can pull off another successful comeback though if he does lead with the right song. I think his lyrics became a bit more generic on 'Demonstration' which made him lose a bit of his unique selling point.

Personally, I don't think his lead single for his next album will be as successful as Children of the Sun or Trampoline (definitely not Pass Out ). The features will help him a bit obviously, but dance-pop music has almost disappeared from the charts, which makes it difficult for people like Dizzee, Tinchy, Wiley, etc. to get hits. Tinie was never quite as "dance-pop" as them, but I still think he'll struggle to match his previous success. His latest single 5 Minutes (which is awesome imo) hasn't done much in the charts.
July 24, 201411 yr I don't think Children Of The Sun was a poor lead single at all, I still think, despite it not being huge, that it sounds like a huge song. It's hardly a million miles away from Written In The Stars which was huge for him... I think music has just sort of moved on and Tinie's sound isn't as on trend as it was, as Eric has pretty much said.

July 24, 201411 yr Cheryl sold 9.8k yesterday whilst MAGIC! sold 11.3k. Rixton has dropped 1-7 and may be at risk of being overtaken by will.i.am at #8.
July 24, 201411 yr GO CHERYL Shame about la roux and Charli both falling. Hope dolly gets 2 and Cher holds onto top 40
July 24, 201411 yr Cheryl sold 9.8k yesterday whilst MAGIC! sold 11.3k. Rixton has dropped 1-7 and may be at risk of being overtaken by will.i.am at #8. HAHA AT RIXTON. It's an awful song. July 24, 201411 yr Cheryl sold 9.8k yesterday whilst MAGIC! sold 11.3k. Rixton has dropped 1-7 and may be at risk of being overtaken by will.i.am at #8. ouch, I thought Rixton would hold up better in the top end of the chart than the average boyband single as it sounds more OneRepublic than it does The Vamps. I still think it'll spend ages in the chart, like how She Looks So Perfect/Can We Dance did after big 2nd week drops. looks like both MAGIC! and Cheryl will pass 100k then, with 3 days of sales left to go! :D MAGIC! will close the gap a bit especially with the weekend effect but it has very little chance of beating Cheryl. Not that I'm complaining because they're obviously going to be #1 next week so they're not missing out as such. nice to see Charli XCX finally making it big as a solo artist, would be good if she kept in the top 5, the song is decent. such a shame that MK is gonna miss the top 10 but it was to be expected :( should stay top 15 though so yay.

MK will almost certainly be top 10 in tomorrows midweeks overtaking Neon Jungle.

July 24, 201411 yr Author The singles chart is looking unbearable lower down the chart, as Cher Lloyd is dropping away. The #2 album is looking at 10k for the week, if Ed Sheeran wasn't at #1, we would be looking at allbums selling less than 13k for the week.
July 24, 201411 yr I would hope Cher Llyod would remain top 40,it will be touch and go now if she will. La Roux will certainly miss another top 3 album now and its low sales is starting to show signs this era may not be the biggest for her/them. The staying power of Dolly Parton is impressive and its good to see the run of established artists perform well in the album chart following on from previous successes from Rod Stewart and David Bowie.
July 24, 201411 yr Author A chart nerd fact time As things stand George Ezra is coming for a 3rd week at 5 with his single and album :D thought I chuck that in :funky:
July 24, 201411 yr I hated Children Of The Sun and that killed my interest for Tinie that campaign (it was too long and just felt like a bad version of written in the stars). Trampoline and the one he did with Labrinth were both ok but nothing felt like a development over the singles from his first album, which felt a bit more exciting (especially Pass Out). Really hope Cher can hold onto a top 40 position, too good not to get that at least. Would like to see Uptight Downtown in there too but I know that is unrealistic. Haven't heard or seen La Roux's stuff anywhere. If she came back 2 years earlier it would probably be a very different story. 5 years is far too long a gap between first and second albums.
July 24, 201411 yr Unpopular opinion: Tinie Tempah was never that good to begin with. Completely agreed. His latest lead singles ere tripe and so much worse than Written in the Stars, which wasn't even that rgeat. EVerything from the style, music, lyrics, beat and even the NAME showed CotS was a cheap attempt to rip off his own song WITS.
July 25, 201411 yr Album sales are so dismal these days it almost seems like full length albums are going to become a thing of the past
