Even Calvin Harris is a big dropper this week... a drop of 9 places to #26
Finally! :cheer:
The album front, however, looks horrid. But, that's almost every week this year now.

Top 3 sales have always been decent but not this week....could be like this until week beginning 18/8 at least. the No 1 album might be around 5-10k by then :(

YAY FOR CHERYL, CHARLI, NEON JUNGLE AND CHER AT THE MOMENT. ALL GREAT SONGS

And so glad Idina is still a non-mover and Paloma is climbing :). And Nicole isn't plummeting either. Woo-hoo

So happy for Charli! Fingers crossed for Neon Jungle as well. However, the same can not be said for La Roux's frankly appalling album sales. It's such a shame, the record is really strong.

I don't think they'd get as low as 5k - even the week in 2012 when Rihanna was #1 with 9k, the whole Top 10 had passed 5k (and the Top 4 were all 9k+ too).

It is worrying for #1 album sales though, especially since Collabro have for some reason pushed their album back to 18 August ( ) - so goodbye to their potential 4 weeks at #1.

Ed Sheeran will be #1 again the week after this (now that Collabro have moved) with Neon Jungle being the best new entry (perhaps #2 unless Sam Smith and others can overtake). Then MAGIC! and then The Gaslight Anthem will be the best new contenders the following weeks before Collabro make it. By this point, #1 sales will probably be safe.

Wow at all those new entries in the top 10, that's a rare thing to see 5 debuts! Really hope at least 4 can hold on! Would love to see MK go top 10 but its looking unlikely as streaming effect will push it down to 11/12 to keep Ed or something boring in the top 10

Interested to see what Cheryl finishes on, wasn't expecting a 22k lead already but again I can see Magic benefit from streaming as I'm sure they will end up being the most streamed track of the week which will give them a boost but I'm happy Cheryl's looking certain for the top spot!

I had to check if Courteneers were another M.A.D(/Reconnected/whoever else); this is unusual!

Not quite :P They were fairly big in 2007/8 (2 top 20 hits) and still have a very dedicated fanbase now, I am surprised they've sold enough of this EP to get a midweek top 40 position but good for them ~

MK could still go top 10 this week if he continues to climb on iTunes, he's only just made the top 10 there. X Ambassadors have no chance though, they really should have released this earlier - I mean Jay-Z's verse is about the World Cup and it was used in a World Cup ad so of course the logical decision would be to release it a week after the World Cup ends

Really impressive longevity so far from Dolly Parton's album, still up in the top 5 long after Glastonbury! Of course the low sales are probably helping her but still :P

'The Velvet Underground & Nico' could enter the top 40 for the first time ever this week! Assuming it's the week's 99p album.

So is Cheryl likely to be #1 with those sales?

errr... :banghead:

Embarassing to think Cheryls PR machine is working wonders with her stans. :S
I'm confused, are those yeses or nos? Magic is unfortunately catching up and has streaming!!
So is Cheryl likely to be #1 with those sales?

I think yes. She's got a big lead so far, and she's still got a decent lead on iTunes too (and her streaming seems quite good for a release week). Unless Rude overtakes tomorrow and ends the week with a 50% lead or something I think Cheryl has got it.

The streaming numbers vs sales for both are so low that they are not going to make a difference.

The top ten will probably have only two new entries on Sunday.

Poor La Roux, the album is so good. Hope there'll be some word of mouth kind of hype to make it sell a little more. She is one of those artists who would do better if streaming was added to chart.

Thrilled for Charli XCX and Neon Jungle! Really hope both manage to somehow hold on.
I think The Beatles come to mind.

Except that as was usual in the Sixties, they didn't release singles from all their albums (nor put all their singles onto albums). If you define "lead single" as "first single from the album" you can construct a run of 4:

'Can't Buy Me Love' (from A Hard Day's Night)

'Ticket To Ride' (from Help!)

'Yellow Submarine/Eleanor Rigby' (from Revolver)

'Get Back' (from Let It Be)

...But you have to ignore all the hitless albums in between them. Also, Abbey Road came out between 'Get Back' and Let It Be, but only produced a Number 4 single.

Just a thought, whatever happened to the new official breakers chart?
If she's on course for 125k, Cheryl will either be one of the biggest selling #1 of the year, or the biggest selling #2 of the year (we're talking first week sales of course) !

It is bizarre this year that the top 3 weeks so far all came right at the start of the first quarter.

I think yes. She's got a big lead so far, and she's still got a decent lead on iTunes too (and her streaming seems quite good for a release week). Unless Rude overtakes tomorrow and ends the week with a 50% lead or something I think Cheryl has got it.

I agree - based on iTunes, she's still comfortably ahead, and will probably have extended her lead to about 30k by the end of today - far too much to be caught in the remaining 3 days - she's not 5SOS, after all... :P
