I wonder when record labels here will start to realise it doesnt do anything for an artist to hold a song back so long?

Unfortunately I fear that with the streaming addition to the chart, it might actually persuade labels to keep holding songs back even longer (even though on first thought it should do the opposite). Streaming seems to take time to build up, for example, many of the new releases just now are placing lower on the 'official' charts than the sales charts because they haven't managed to get as high in the streaming charts as they need to be to secure their position. However, for example, Jess Glynne, has stablised as her streaming has picked up since her song has now been on the radio for a couple of months and is attracting more casual buyers to purchase and stream. I think Jessie, Ariana and Nicki will probably do very well when released as the streaming points will be very high due to being on radio for so long before release - basically in the same style that Problem is performing at the moment. The held back release date may hinder some sales but the high peak and the streaming points keeping the song stable will more than make up for that, unfortunately.

Hopefully record labels will start to see that streaming takes time to build and release songs on Spotify earlier like Melissa Steel, Kiesza, MAGIC! and Nico & Vinz have done for example, even if they aren't released to itunes OA/OS then they can build up until their itunes release and get a good combined position.

Ooh, Train have an instant grat single in the top 200, "Bulletproof Picasso" (which is a pretty crap title, which goes without saying). They won't get playlisted on Radio 1, but I wonder if this one will catch on elsewhere? It's nowhere near as poppy as "Drive By" or "Hey Soul Sister".

edit - actually, it seems that "Angel In Blue Jeans" is the lead single, cowritten by the guys behind "Drive By" and "Hey Soul Sister".

151 Kiesza Giant In My Heart

What's out in the same week? Nothing right? Only a second week of Am I Wrong? So maybe number 2 that week...

I really like 'Angel In Blue Jeans'. Hope it can do well when it comes out in September. :)

only Rizzle Kicks & The Sats really. Still not too sure how Giant In My Heart will do, perhaps it could sneak into the top 5 if Capital FM ever decide to support it

So disappointed with Vic Menza's performance.

I wanted 'Down On My Luck' to be a massive top 5 at least.

263. Sigma - Changing (feat. Paloma Faith)

Out on the 14th of September. Certain number one I'd say!

And rightfully so, it's the "Waiting All Night" of this year

Bars & Melody down to 10

21. Maroon 5 - It Was Always You

35. Drake - 0 To 100 / The Catch Up

37. Nafees - Tera Pyar (with the PropheC)

50. Clean Bandit - Come Over (feat. Stylo G)

Good to see Maroon 5 climbing. This song is so much better than Maps.
Cher Llyod is holding reasonably well for week 2 when we consider it did not achieve a top 40 placing.
