I only care at all because I have a bet on Bieber lol ~ But I hope this somehow means next year the Xmas #1 race is more interesting.

Let's hope a few more artists are inspired to release next year.

I mean, those with no chance of no.1 used to release anyway because sales were always amazing. I suppose that's been killed off in this modern age since buying cd singles is no longer a thing.

FFS :drama: ~ bloody sheeple :banghead: ~ will the NHS Choir even be in the top100 next week?!

I could certainly see it falling out of the Top 40, Top 100 is maybe a bit far-fetched though :P

That last Kworb update suggests the NHS dirge is going viral :( If they end today at say 0.4 (combined), what proportion will they need to keep Bieber down to in order to to make up for the first four days?

I just downloaded the A Bridge Over You track, I love and value the NHS so much and they deserve it. :)

edit - in fact, I've just got the extended version too as I'm intrigued to see what the difference is between the two.

 I love boring chart race Xmas no1 weeks like this.

Still not sweating about NHS Choir at least until tomorrow. Everyone needs to calm it a bit.

The problem is that these campaigns often are successful. Simply because they have a determined group of followers, in that when the data is presented in front of them, they know what they have to do in order to win. They know Bieber's got to be pushed down to 0.4-0.5 (and probably more since they are making up for the previous 4 days deficit), this will be known to the NHS choir followers who subsequently will be spreading the message that the rate of downloads has to be increased, radio shows then pass on the message urging everyone “it needs more sales” etc. Bieber’s followers are at a disadvantage because they are downloading the song freely because they like it, not necessarily to get it to number 1.

Its exactly how Rage of the Machine won against Joe McElderry. RATM followers knew the numbers likely required to beat the X factor and were downloading like mad until they got a required total that was likely to defeat him.

If NHS Choir know that 0.3-0.4 for the rest of the week will win it for them, then that's what they'll target.

Its just simple chart manipulation really.

Btw great to see Stevie Wonders Christmas song from the apple ad up to 68, it really is beautiful!

16. Sugar (feat. Francesco Yates) - Robin Schulz

17. Stitches - Shawn Mendes

18. When the Bassline Drops - Craig David & Big Narstie

21. Bang my Head (feat. Sia & Fetty Wap) - David Guetta

35. All My Friends (feat. Tinashe & Chance The Rapper) - Snakehips

41. Secret Love Song (feat. Jason Derulo) - Little Mix

44. Light It Up (feat. Nyla & Fuse ODG) [Remix] - Major Lazer

50. In the Night - The Weeknd

52. Ex's & Oh's - Elle King

59. Touch - Pia Mia

70. Hands To Myself - Selena Gomez

I wonder which out of the above list will take off after Christmas is over? I really hope Pia does :(

Hands To Myself needs to be massive! Such a good start for it. Same goes for Exs and Ohs and Secret Love Song.
I'd say Robin Schluz, Shawn Mendes, Craig David, Little Mix/Derulo, The Weeknd and Elle King all have a very good chance of making the top ten post Xmas. Selena's a hard one to predict, she's really not been that sucessfull in the UK, but seems like she could score a big hit at anytime. I expected it to be 'Same Old Love' but that stalled at #81, maybe this one could be it?
Combined/Weighted

NHS Choir 1.000

Justin Bieber 0.498

Pushed him down almost 10% this update. At this rate they'll be able to get to #1.

Actually the gap is 0.398. Once again chart manipulation wins the day

I'd be happy with all of these especially Elle and Pia

This is so fun to watch. Really hope Bieber takes it; I'm getting second-hand anxiety across the pond for everyone who bet on him :arrr:

It would be nice if people who bought NHS Choir are doing it because they like the song (or for charity reasons), instead of trying to cynically BLOCK somebody they don't like getting it.

No doubt a lot of people are buying NHS Choir for good reasons, but its sudden surge isn't a lot to do with the fact its become a popular song all of a sudden, rather to stop Bieber getting it. Some people downloading 10 times and don't even bother to listen to the song even once.

Wouldn't it be nice if we had a Christmas chart battle like that famous one in 1994 between Mariah Carey and East 17 when whoever won we could actually conclude and say that the winner was the more popular song of choice to listen to that week, rather than some cynical attempt to piss another artist and their fans off?

Limited internet so I cant read the whole thread, but whats the likeliness of NHS Choir getting to number one now?

I don't think 'Touch' will really take off, it's already got lots of R1 airplay so should be doing better if it's to be a big hit. Shame as it's a lot better than 'Do It Again' imo.

I imagine 'Stitches', 'All My Friends' and 'Ex's & Oh's' will all be huge. And it's probably safe to say 'In The Night' will be a reasonably sized hit because it's The Weeknd.
