January 12, 201610 yr What are its streaming figures like? Judging on the Spotify thread 'Heroes' "sold" about 2k worth of streams. That, plus the streaming from everywhere else, so I assume 3k more or less per working day? That will bring him another 10-12k by Friday if the streaming rate doesn't drop down. But seeing how it is still gaining on iTunes I can see it being stable at least for these remaining 4 days. With about 5-6k actual sales per day + 3k streams per day he's heading for 32-35k for this week. I can see 'Heroes' being #4 at a push this week (if I underestimate the sales/streaming figures or if they rise even higher), the most likely outcome - a top-10, like #6-8.
January 12, 201610 yr Over on amazon the whole top 20 albums are Bowie expect for the Adele and Elvis albums
January 12, 201610 yr It's so strange, this mentality of people mass buying music by someone just because they die! Did they not think to buy it before? Are they actual fans or are they just jumping on the bandwagon? I did have a listen to some of my favourite Bowie tracks on Spotify yesterday but it hasn't made me rush out and buy his albums... am I just being too insensitive?

It's probably also due to the songs being hammered by radio and TV en masse.
January 12, 201610 yr Elton, definitely. As much as I am not a fan, I could see there being a huge reaction to Robbie Williams. Robbie could live another 40-50 years though

Life isn't like that for most people, and that sudden sense of loss and realisation that you never got round to buying such and such kicks in and they move to the top of the purchase list suddenly...

I did have a listen to some of my favourite Bowie tracks on Spotify yesterday but it hasn't made me rush out and buy his albums... am I just being too insensitive? In my case it was just a pure ignorance of his music earlier on. It had never particularly caught my attention. Having read in all the death related news about how much of a musical genius he was, I decided to start digging deeper, search for meanings and revolutionary factors in his art and that way I discovered how precious some of his work really is. Sometimes one just needs a context and death is a good occasion to analyse the artist's career deeply and appreciate its unique value.

Just me being a bit too insensitive then! I must admit, I didn't realise just how loved he was as an artist, beyond the hits that I know.
January 12, 201610 yr Adele? Pixie Lott?LMAO. ARE YOU SERIOUS? I mean Adele and her flop '25' album? Pfft.
January 12, 201610 yr Over on amazon the whole top 20 albums are Bowie expect for the Adele and Elvis albums All are sold out - The same on HMV so that will impact the sales they could have achieved as people's only option is download or streaming.
January 12, 201610 yr Adele? Pixie Lott? Maybe Pixie needs to die so that her next album is an actual success. [/kobbar]
January 12, 201610 yr I can see 'Heroes' doing about 25k on sales and 20k on streaming, and ending up at #4 behind Bieber, Mendes and Bieber.
January 12, 201610 yr Maybe Pixie needs to die so that her next album is an actual success. [/kobbar] I think the 'jokes' in here have become a bit too morbid. Looking forward to the next update to see just what kind of impact it has had in terms of sales. I hope the new album does make the top spot (instead of a greatest hits) this week and Lazarus manages top 40 as I do genuinely like the track and would like to see it become a new hit for him.

January 12, 201610 yr Maybe Pixie needs to die so that her next album is an actual success. [/kobbar] Is this kobbar person still on Buzzjack? he sounds like a right character  Does anyone think that David Bowie's album has a good chance of being the 2016 year end #1? it would be a fitting tribute to such an icon if it happened.

Unless someone like Ed or Sam (or even Emeli) release a massive album this year, I'm pretty sure '25' will be the year end #1 again.
January 12, 201610 yr Kobbar's Whitney Houston musings were on the first weekend I ever found this forum. I'll also never forget how enthusiastic he got during Gezza's rundown of the biggest female hits of the 90's
January 12, 201610 yr Really? I didn't think that one was that popular. Wow really? I'd say it's his most popular!

That would be incredible but absolutely not! I'd say reaching Platinum would be good going for this album (his last Platinum studio album was waaaaay back in 1983).
