9. Alejandro 8.7576

At #9 is the third single from TFM, Alejandro! :cheer: This wasn't originally meant to be the third single, but after pressure from Gaga it was decided to be. Once again, this song plays on Gaga's fear of the "monster" (being men in this case :kink: ). The video for this of course was directed by Steven Klein and inspired by her love for the LGBQT+ community. However the video release itself was quite controversial due to the different themes of the video and it's dark nature, and sparked controversy amongst some religious groups! :o I ADORE Alejandro, it's one of those songs which can't seem to age for me, so glad to see it got a top 10 place! :yahoo:

I love 'Alejandro' It was never gonna win like what I believe I put in my preferences list, but a placing of #9 is certainly good!

Alejandro and Telephone

Tbf anything now is gonna be "" though!!

I do like 'Alejandro' it's a decent song, but I don't think it's anywhere near one of her best, find it kinda overrated to be honest and don't see what all the fuss is about. On the whole however it is an interesting choice.

yeah all my commentary from now is going to be stanning  tbh I make no apologies for that :kink:

Really shocked and gutted Telephone is that low :( One of my favourites from both artists and an incredible pop song with of course that iconic music video  Still can't believe neither artist has had a singles #1 in the UK since then though :o

Alejandro is good but FAR FAR too high!! Should be at least 20 places lower :(

Maybe would have liked Alejanjobdro to be a couple of places higher, but better than having too overrated a finish, like top 5/3 ^_^
I really love Alejandro and see it as one of her most intriguing singles for sure. I was mad at the time that it took the place of 'Dance in the Dark' but what can you do. I also really like the video ALTHOUGH it doesn't fit with the song - I would've loved a really fun summery video instead of the wintery-Madonna-esque vibes for this song.

OMG this!!

And what Ultra said.

Waaay overrated on hurr - even sometimes winning Rates!!

Yah the video is awful and does not suit the song. At. All.

Eh but it is better than Dance in the Dark.

I enjoy Alejandro. But I feel like there's a reason, that of all her big hits it feels like the most forgotten. It turned out to be quite the hit in the end and was clearly a good choice but I can't help feeling that Dance in the Dark would have ended up being one of Gaga's most iconic hits, had it been released.

'Telephone' and 'Alejandro' are the opposite for me - the former I enjoy the video more than the song itself and the latter the song is much stronger than the vid!

'Telephone' is pretty great however. It's just that the video is my favourite EVER of hers, just so incredibly iconic from the moment it dropped.

'Alejandro' is genius, I feel so incredibly hooked the whole way through. In fact the whole 'The Fame Monster' era was just everything ughhh <333

I'll follow you until you love me

08. Paparazzi 8.7879

Breathe Jonjo! Out next is the third/fourth/fifth single from the debut album (it was released at different stages across the globe). It was for many a welcomed departure from the banging club tunes of the singles that came before it and it showcased a completely different side to Gaga - a more personal, refined, beautiful side with a song led by the lyrics. As a song it's more of an electronic ballad and perfectly twists the idea of Fame of the album onto its head, with Gaga becoming the paparazzi and chasing down her love (on tour, it became her fans that were Gaga's Paparazzi and their undying love and dedication for Gaga was likened to the relentless pursuit of the paparazzi to get to the celebrity). The music video was Gaga's first epic one, going on to continue in the 'Telephone' video, this first part showed Gaga attempting to kill her partner. It was everything we now love about Gaga's visuals, crazy, stylised, eccentric and so vibrant. It went on to win two MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 for Best Art Direction and Best Special Effects and she performed the song at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards in what many describe as her defining live performance. The song helped secure Gaga's position as the pop force to be reckoned with and it became another huge chart success across the globe. A fantastically complex song with a huge host of different meanings, but ultimately a classic Gaga song, still so fun and brilliant to listen to.

Should've won tbh.

What a song. What a video. What a performance.

One of my fave songs of all time
